NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

While no doubt doing everything possible to hinder the effort.

If only something big, like an infrastructure project country wide could be formulated and passed.

Nah, the Republiquins were in power - 4 years - nothing. Can’t be done.

JUNE 2022!!!111!!! Why, that’s ELEVEN FULL MONTHS away!!!1!!111!!1!! Entire species of giant creatures could evolve*, rise to dominance, and fall in that time!!! It is a time period PAST ALL HUMAN COMPREHENSION!!!1!!!

… respect for the consistency of the bad faith that the GOP spews, day-in and day-out.

\

*“giant creatures” because it’s quite literally possible for COVID variants, to name one microbe, to evolve and then rise to dominance in a mere eleven months. No matter how ardently Republicans choose to believe in creationism.

I’m sure your all waiting with bated breath for the results of the great Arizona audit. Should be - yet again - about two weeks out.

Latest in skullduggery - In continuing news of the Maricopa County Election Audit, the ballots and voting machines are being moved again to a new location, in the 4th two-week extension of the original two-week audit. County officials are now saying the machines may need to be replaced, because their integrity cannot be assured, as the Cyber Ninjas group is not certified to handle the machines.

Another concern is that the cost now far exceeds the $150,000 allocated by the legislature, and is apparently being funded by private groups. That is a violation of state law, which prohibits third-party funding of election administration.

Further, a court filing in April requested Cyber Ninjas to publish their election audit policies and procedures, which is required under state transparency laws. They responded that their methods are trade secrets (despite having no previous election audit history). It is unheard of for an auditor to not fully disclose and certify their methods.

The Senate is anticipating criticism, and has hired a second recount from Citizens Oversight, which uses a ballot image processing tool. But as before, neither group nor tool is certified for election audits. So we are headed for a second round of controversy.

Here is an excellent review of the audit. It details the standard procedures required by law, and compares with those that are actually being used:

Indeed, the Cyber Ninjas Review starting at page 8 is an absolutely thorough dressing-down of how those useless ratbastards are clowning around. Each section lays it out well, startlingly so.
If I was an Arizonan - what I’d do to try to disseminate crucial shit like this…

I think they’ll have to test the bodies for bamboo fibers, which will prove beyond the shadow of a doubt, with geometric logic, that a duplicate key to the ward room icebox did exist.

I think it’s worth a try, and I’m on board.

Matt Gaetz says when the Republicans take back the House following the 2022 election, and “send Nancy Pelosi back to the filth of San Francisco”, he’s going to nominate Individual 1 as Speaker of the House.
I guess he doesn’t realize that even if the Republicans took back the House, there’s very little chance that Nancy Pelosi would lose reelection. I wonder how Qevin MqQarthy feels about not being Speaker.

Geeze Louise, just how far down his throat can that guy take T****'s dick?

And does he really think T**** would deign to be Speaker after being President?

Fucker Carlson went on a tirade about a spa in Los Angeles that dared to allow a trans woman to use their facilities. Right wing crazies showed up (just unintentionally, I’m sure, carrying baseball bats). They were met by counter protesters. Riots broke out.

It’s only a matter of time before that asshole gets someone killed.

As an aside; when I was in high school in San Diego in the '90s, I was on the school’s quiz bowl team, and La Jolla Country Day, Tucker’s alma mater, was the only school that could consistently beat us because they had the budget to drill their team like crazy. Every single person I ever met who went to that school was a stuck-up trust fund asshole, and as soon as I found out Tucker went there, a whole lot of stuff started making sense about him.

I am fairly certain he has already, maybe not directly, but with his denial of masking, it is almost certain that someone followed his advice and now is no longer watching his “entertainment” show.

I meant someone who didn’t deserve it.

These people could fuck up a rock fight.

On the one hand, I really don’t want Trump to ever be in any position of authority ever again.

But on the other, I’d love to watch Gaetz’ head explode from the frustration of trying to get Trump to actually do a job, rather than just strutting about shouting things, and watching TV 17 hours a day. Can anyone here imagine Trump actually putting in the hours needed to establish a legislative agenda, and then ensure the needed votes are lined up? Hell, he could barely function as president when his major role was just to sign the bills the Republicans sent to him.

And sitting on a committee? I’m pretty sure the boredom would actually kill Trump.

Hey, maybe this isn’t such a bad idea after all…

I don’t know what’s more striking here—Gaetz’s confidence that he’ll still be in Congress next term, after he has almost certainly been indicted for having sex with a minor, or the fact that he’s probably right.

I believe the idea here is not that Donald would make a great Speaker, but that once he IS Speaker, the Republicans will impeach-and-remove Biden and Harris on some pretext or other, making Donald the once and future King (aka “President” again).

No one imagines that Donald would actually carry out any duties of a Speaker of the House, or even of a member of the House.

Carlson and the Murdochs need to be held accountable in a court of law for Carlson’s repeated incitement of violence, and for the Murdoch’s grant to Carlson of a platform for that incitement.

Nothing but a major court-imposed financial penalty will deter the Murdochs from their decades-long quest to bring down democracy—nothing.

The white nationalist group Patriot Front, all dressed in the Nazi styled khaki pants, marched through the streets of Philadelphia last night without a permit. The cops drove them out of town.

From the article:

If they’re willing to throw batteries at people and boo a man dressed as Santa Claus, you really think they won’t step up to a racist in a bootleg Best Buy uniform?

I’ve long had a soft spot in my head for Philadelphia.

I interpreted the story as saying it was ordinary residents of the city who drove them off.

Police say some of the angry onlookers scared off the white supremacists.

“They started engaging with citizens of Philadelphia, who were none too happy about what they were saying. These males felt threatened, and at one point somebody threw a smoke bomb to cover their retreat, and they literally ran away from the people of Philadelphia,” said Philadelphia Police Officer Michael Crum.
