NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

The pillow guy is now saying that Biden and Harris will both resign on August 13th and Loser Donald will be president again, because nobody ever read Article II of the Constitution to him.

Interesting. I was also very sick for about five weeks around Christmas 2019. I had the Sore Throat from Hell – like razor blades in my throat every time I swallowed. I lost my voice for three weeks. I attended the Christmas Eve service in solidarity with my choir, but I could only mouth the words. I went to a Doc in the Box and they gave me antibiotics, but there wasn’t any particular diagnosis.

Rand Paul has sent a criminal referral to the DOJ for Dr. Fauci.

George P Bush went all Individual 1 supporter despite his new idol having savaged his good ol dad, Jeb. But Individual 1 endorsed P’s opponent in the Texas primary for AG.

Why does anyone give the mentally ill pillow guy any airtime? He’s basically the crazy dude who yells at passers by on the street corner.

Because he’s pretty much the only person willing to pay Tucker Carlson for ad time at this point?

Because the pillow guy is successful in business, which right-wingers like. Crazy dudes who yell at passers-by on the street may collect a few coins in the hat at their feet, but they’re not inventors and innovators, who have done well enough in business to afford to buy airtime. Right-wingers respect that, and so are willing to listen to what the pillow guy says; they don’t respect the crazy dude on the corner, who has invented and innovated and contributed little to nothing to the economy.

Because of all that, right-wingers feel that the pillow guy is a voice to be listened to, Never mind that if the pillow guy had not invented his pillow, he’d be just another crazy dude on the corner.

Of course, the only reason the pillow guy has sold pillows is not because his pillows are in the least innovative, but just because he’s really good at yelling crazy things on the streetcorner in his advertisements.

I tried to watch Tucker last night, but it seems he’s off “fishing.”

Wow! Trump really does love and like a son!

i had the same thing around chrismas 2019, had the antibody test as well. negative for covid, so just really bad head cold.

Obviously, Smapti was the first case of Covid-19 in North America. It was transmitted to ThelmaLou via the Dope, who then passed it on to rocking_chair. This was, of course, before we started masking up while posting and spraying our keyboards with Lysol.

DAMN! I’m going to enclose my laptop (and my kindle) in some kind of medical-grade plastic (if there is such a thing) while wearing surgical gloves and an N95 mask. This is dangerous!

I forget, was George P the one that had all the pro-Trump can koozies printed up?

Yep, he’s the one.

Oh, how Donald does love humiliating Bushes.

(As well as other “mainstream” Republicans such as Romneys.)

It just kills me that I flubbed my joke and I didn’t even get around to editing it. Damned distractions.

Anyway…

‘Wow! Trump really does love GP like his own sons!’

Yes, that does ring true.

Also, Stewart’s take-down was part of his criticism of a CNN show, not a Fox show—CNN being more likely to respond to such sentiments, assuming Stewart spoke for many (and he did). CNN’s subsequent lack of support for the Carlson version of Crossfire did a lot of the work of sidelining that I implicitly attributed to Stewart.

You’re right about all that. I’d say it ties in with the audience’s need for authoritarian-level “certainty”. Those who crave a bully to follow will always expect that bully to project confidence. They expect that the bully will assert possession of Absolute Truth.

The concept of acknowledging grey areas, or of admitting to having less than perfect knowledge, fills that audience with fear and anxiety.

So those who aspire to be the bullies admired by that audience will also aspire to a know-it-all, superior-to-those-Others demeanor. To us it looks stupidly–even ludicrously–smug and smarmy.

But to the right-wing audience, it’s reassuring and comforting.

Twitter has suspended eight accounts for passing on false information about the Arizona “audit”. One of the accounts is the official audit’s account.

You know, you’re onto something here.

Your explanation comports with my own observations about the need for certainty among those who desire authoritarian leaders but I hadn’t put it together with The Look, as you did. Very interesting hypothesis!
