You know, a lot of the liberal sites like Raw Story have been interpreting the unhinged gish-gallop of pseudo-sentences coming out of the Cyber Symposium as a sign that these people are starting to realize they have nothing and back away.
Nothing could be further from the truth, they came together to double-down and they did. They are still convinced that they will restore Trump to office. They are invoking God a lot, and claiming he’s on their side……I don’t see the evidence, if God wanted Trump to be President I think he could’ve found an easier way.
The most concerning thing about what I’ve heard as I listened in, was the large number of private citizens - election officials, Dominion employees, that they are calling out by name as traitors and criminals. It’s dangerous, and someone’s going to get killed before this is over.
It’s silly. We all know Hillary doesn’t just rape children she bathes in their blood and eats their flesh after collecting their precious brain juices.
You know, just yesterday I was wondering why none of the Republicans, Carlson in particular, had mocked AOCs concerns about being raped, and entertaining the possibility that post MeToo they may have decided it was just a smidge too crass. Nope, I guess its good to know that some things never change.
On the other hand it could have been worse, she was only being hunted down by a mob of angry men who regularly post memes about her being raped, It isn’t as if someone told her she was a bad human being in front of her adult daughter. Let’s keep things in perspective.
Probably for the same reason Kevin McQarthy “jokes” about wanting to hit Nancy Pelosi with a large hammer - in their minds, or at least in the minds of the marks they’re cutting promos for, violence is the appropriate way to teach a woman her place.
Eric Swalwell pointed out recently that Ted Cruz had bumped into him in one of the Capitol restrooms and praised the great job he’d been doing, when the night before he’d been on Tucker slandering Swalwell’s pregnant wife. To a lot of these Republicans, politics has become WWE - they don’t believe the things they’re saying, they’re just working the marks for a cheap pop.
I would not be a bit surprised if some of them got together and talked through their scripts.
“So, I’ll be on FOX calling you a deviant scumbag who eats babies. You can go on Maddow and say I piss on grandmothers, deal? It’s all just politics, amiright?”
I agree – this campaign of intimidation by the right wing has become widespread & a very serious concern. And someone is going to get killed. But that may not necessarily be a bad thing. Republicans think they’re safe from the Trumper mob, but they’re wrong – Trumpers are loyal only to Trump, everyone else is either with Trump or anti-American (see Mike Pence). They’re forgetting Trump has pointed his mob at Republicans as often as Democrats, and for trivial slights. Which means there’s a good chance that the someone(s) who gets killed will be Republican. And if it’s a significant Republican, it might wake the saner members of the party to the reality of a future ruled by a right-wing mob & the benefits of keeping a democracy. A big maybe, but I do think this is one of the only things that could shift the track Republicans are on.
It certainly looks like, at the moment, they are hitting the Republicans WAY harder than they are hitting Democrats. Democrats are enemies but Republicans are traitors. From the bits and pieces I heard, I think the ultimate aim of the Cyber Symposium was to get their “base” to make widespread demands for state and local election audits - one of the seminars was geared towards instructing the attendees in strategies for doing this - and ratcheting up the pressure on mainstream Republicans and Fox News to support their efforts to audit and reverse the 2020 election. There was a lot of Fox News bashing at the symposium. If you aren’t with them, you’re against them.
There a lot of crazy out there, here’s a transcript from some Lin Wood podcast where he exposes a conspiracy involving pedophilia, Mike Pence, Rod Rosenstein and John Roberts. The scariest thing about this one it that it alleges that John Robert’s adopted children are actually sex slaves and that he adopted them as some sort of favor for Jeffrey Epstein. It’s dangerous.
Aside from the immediate threat of violence, it’s chilling, not just in the horror movie sense of the word but the legal sense. It dissuades honest people from seeking careers in election administration and government - much as the current extremist attitudes towards education and healthcare dissuade good people from careers in the field. This is part of the broader right-wing overall strategy. It clears a path for extremists.
Now, I don’t want anyone to be the victim of violence, even if they are Republican, even if they are a Republican that was craven enough to enable Trump. If I’m reading you right, you think that if a Republican gets killed over this that will be a wake up call for the rest of them— I wish I could agree, but I can’t. They’re too far gone. If someone does successfully lynch Mike Pence, they will just disassociate from the perpetrators, probably by claiming they were Antifa. It may even be an effective tool for pulling other recalcitrant Republicans onto the election fraud bandwagon — fear of violence is a powerful motivator. I’m convinced there are Congressmen that don’t stand up to Trump mostly because they’re scared his supporters will burn their houses down.
To segue to a more comical variety of Republican Stupidity: Kevin McCarthy came up with an absolutely BRILLIANT idea—to sell Republicans MAGA-red shirts emblazoned with the word “Moron”:
As the article notes, it’s the perfect gift for any Republican in your life!
A few days ago, I drove down I-85 south through South Carolina. I saw a billboard with “TRUMP WON” across the top, below his pouty-lipped portrait. “120,000,000 VOTES!” stretched all the way across the billboard. Below, in smaller type: “Biden only got 81 million.” At the bottom was somebody’s web site address, but I don’t remember it.
So in this case, they acknowledge Biden got 81 million, so it’s not a matter of stolen votes. They just assumed everybody who didn’t vote would have voted for Trump.
