I’m seeing more and more conservative complaints along these lines, that liberals are out to “impose their will on us,” or what used to mean “pass legislation as a consequence of being elected.”
I think it’s all code to ramp up an end around the electoral process in the next election. They’re worried that future electoral majorities are slipping from their grasp and they’ve about had the shits of this namby pamby democracy stuff.
Appalling how many ‘people in charge’ clearly never think through their ideas and the consequences of those ideas.

That, at least, is encouraging.

In all of this, of course, material aid is being given by foreign adversaries who would like to see the USA break down and break apart.
How much foreign money helps support the Federalist Society, for example? American ‘dark money’ has been working hard for decades to bring down democracy, as we know from the work of public servants such as Jane Mayer. But those efforts are surely rivaled by the efforts of the nations who’d benefit from the demise of America.
I have to agree with this 100%. It’s easy to laugh at this stuff and forget that slightly less than half the country takes it very seriously while we all watch baseball and eat BBQ. Things are going to get much worse before they get better. Especially if Republicans take back one or both houses of congresses in 2022 and Trump runs in 2024, which looks increasingly likely. Trumpists are playing their hands now. Powell, and Lindell and whatnot are easy to dismiss but they seem to be the republican party at this point from a leadership standpoint as far as i can tell. They’re riling the base while Republicans are either whistling through the graveyard, lining behind them or being purged Lynn Cheney style.
@Morgyn and @Hamlet, thank you for helping me understand what’s going on here.
@Hamlet, maybe I wasn’t clear just who I’m calling a jackass and why. I’m not referring to the people who recognize that overturning RvW could also overturn these other rights – that clearly is a thing to worry about. The jackass I refer to is Jonathan Mitchell, the former Texas Solicitor General, discussed in the article that @Rick_Kitchen linked, who is described as an “architect” of the Texas anti-abortion law, and who seems to be rooting for all of this to happen.
Fox’s Peter Doocy, who seems to revel in being dragged by Jen Psaki every day, asked her why the Administration isn’t testing Haitian immigrants at the border for pregnancy.
Kayleigh McEnany tweeted a graph showing the murder rate in 2020, with the caption “The murder rate under Joe Biden”. She deleted it once people pointed out to her that her boss, Individual 1, was President in 2020.
