NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

Yeah, corporations are all about the “keeping the profits” part of capitalism and not so keen on the “assuming the risks” part.

“But we’re too big to fail,” they whine as they queue up for their slice of corporate welfare. They should have been nationalized or broken up and parceled out to the ones still standing.

Speaking of not understanding how corporations work, Marco Rubio has introduced a bill that would allow shareholders to sue corporations for being “woke”.

Words mean nothing anymore. Every single word in existence is a label to attach with positive or negative connotations and attempt to smear or aggrandize other people with.

Corporations are “communists”.

“Patriots” attack the Capitol bearing rebel flags.

“War is Peace. Freedom is Slavery. Ignorance is Strength.”

George wasn’t wrong. His predictions were just behind by a few years.

And he picked the wrong side.

Granted.

He didn’t, actually. He was a European socialist, not a communist. His ideas for 1984 were partially formed watching the Leninist and Stalinist groups on the Left during the Spanish Civil War and concluding they were not the way forward.

Yes. But, Oceania (with its doublespeak) represents an anti-capitalist regime.
Jihi and I were saying it’s the “pro-capitalsit”* Republicans who seem to be engaging in the doublespeak of 1984.

* for various degrees of pro

Ah yes. Thank you!

I guess I should clarify that although the term doublespeak does not actually appear in the novel, it is generally agreed that it is a direct descendant of “newspeak” and “doublethink.”

Oldthinkers unbellyfeel magaspeak.

 :+1:

Undoubleungood?

Florida decided to take federal covid funds and individually cut checks for teachers, instead of giving the money to school districts to hand out locally. Some of the checks are bouncing.

Republican Congressional candidate Jarome Bell:

“Audit all 50 states. Arrest all involved. Try all involved. Convict all involved. Execute all involved. #MaricopaCountyFraud.”

“All involved”? As in, everyone who voted? Or does he just want to execute the auditors?

Between this and some of the other quotes above from recently, I’m really beginning to wonder at what point the oligarchs financing politics would find that they’re losing more supporting these people than profiting…

Your ideas are intriguing and I’d like to subscribe to your newsletter.

Texas is holding arrested migrants without charges and without attorneys.

She’s dumb as a fucking post.

Ladies & germs, say hello to our next president.
