NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

HP Lovecraft would be proud, though he’d probably offer the critique “Not racist enough.”

I laughed. Fuck that guy.

The report maybe, but if HP Lovecraft spent a few minutes talking to these Republicans, my money says he’d be more than satisfied with the level of racism present!

Man, the story of Frankenstein sure has changed over the years from how I remember it.

This one is both stupid and evil:

He launched a $163 million grant program using federal funding he controls, but he made it available only to schools without mask mandates. He also established a $10 million program that offers vouchers to families at public schools that require masks or that tell students to isolate or quarantine due to COVID-19 exposure.

In the letter, Deputy Treasury Secretary Wally Adeyemo said the conditions “undermine evidence-based efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19.” He asked the state to explain how it will “remediate” the problem within 30 days.

Here’s the money quote:

C.J. Karamargin, a spokesperson for Ducey, said it’s “baffling” why anyone would oppose the grant programs.

He still wouldn’t be a Trumper, though - he’d sooner vote for a shuggoth than support a Scot-German half-breed from that elsritch pit of depravity called (shudder) New York.

I love that these two right-wing nutbags are battling each other. It’s odd that Little appears to be the saner one even though he won’t do jack, nor shit, to try to slow the killing off of his citizens due to Covid. Idaho is letting it’s cheese slide completely off the cracker.

Exactly. You break it, you buy it. No sympathy.

That is a lot of crazy.

But it’s well formatted crazy with some of the appearance of citations (if you click through, the citations are garbage. But if you don’t - numbered footnotes, which usually indicates some level of supportability) . There’s also just so much that debunking it would take more time than the non-crazy are willing to give.

Is it money? Is money the driving force?

Crazy doesn’t really need money…

Crazy works pro bono. And Sonny Bono. And that other Bono.

Dan

Bonus, crazy is not affected by head trauma.

On the contrary, it is often enhanced by head trauma.

People are making money off it.

But I’m not sure that’s the primary motivation. Frankly, I think it’s all part of a larger effort to foment societal discord by destabilizing people with borderline mental illness. I don’t think it’s coincidence that Sidney Powell and Lin Wood are pushing vaccine disinformation on their platforms.

I thought the most disturbing part of the Vaccine Death Report is the theory that vaccine ingredients (maybe working in conjunction with 5G ) alter your thoughts and feelings in order to make you more receptive to authority.

So now we will have a couple of million people who sincerely believe that the brains of their vaccinated friends and neighbors have been usurped as part of an evil conspiracy. It’s dangerous.

In terms of debunking this be, it would probably be easy but futile. The report contains Facebook comments from people claiming vaccine harm. One of those comments was from a woman that claimed her father died after receiving the vaccine. It was trivial to find her Facebook page. She was gushing about a phone call she’d received from her father a couple of weeks ago.
So, bullshit.

I don’t think I want to know about this guy’s fantasies involving creatures with tentacles and women scientists…

Sounds like somebody trying to make a Call of Cthulhu campaign set in modern times…

COOL!!! The 5G works!!!

Another angry violent conservative acts out.

I think the press was really playing this down, or at least playing down his political affiliation. I don’t know what their reasoning was……maybe they can’t report on any more right wing violence until a liberal commits violence, because both sides.

Or maybe it just happens so much that it’s not news anymore.

I think it wasn’t well reported because as it turned out he wasn’t an actual legitimate threat. No weapons were found and it’s not clear whether he had an actual plan for violence. The only thing that differentiates him from a parking violation, is his refusal to cooporate with police and his ominous words that the time for talking is done.

There are so many state legislators that each one represents 3400 people. It’s bound to have a few nutcases.

To sort-of-semiquote something Molly Ivins once said, there must be at least 3400 nutcases in New Hampshire, so we have a true representative democracy if the Senator resembles his constituents.
