NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

My favorite bit of the Cawthorne story is this:

…which (apparently) means that he must concede that he’s an insurrectionist in order to gain amnesty for being one.

I’m sure it’s all nonsense but one takes one’s comedy where one can these days.

Obviously it’s nonsense – the legal theory that the 1872 act applies to all insurrectionists past and future is equivalent to asserting that Congress can unilaterally repeal the Insurrection Clause, which is on a level with his argument that the First Amendment supersedes the Fourteenth Amendment.

Missouri Senate Bill 666 (yes, that’s really the number) ups the ante on the state’s “stand your ground” law. Essentially, if you shoot and kill someone and claim self-defense, police have to assume you are telling the truth. Prosecutors are calling it “legalized murder”.

The bill was proposed by the same senator who wrote the bill, enacted last year, that makes it illegal for local or state police to cooperate with federal authorities on any crime involving a firearm. And of course the new bill is supported by the McCloskeys, the couple who brandished weapons at peaceful BLM protesters marching down their street.

Cite that they’re Republicans? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Well, his political hero claimed years ago that the 14th amendment was unconstitutional so…

It’s the equivalent of an asshole’s definition of “illegal” – whatever I don’t like.

Ted Cruz said that Biden committing to nominate a black woman to the Court is an insult to black women.

Chip Roy is spreading the false claim that Justin Trudeau has fled to the US in the face of the “truckers’” assault on Ottawa, and is demanding that he be deported.

They can’t be repubs if they won’t compromise with devil worshippers!

I am of two minds about this. Cruz is a moron, that is a given, but…

Biden saying he will nominate a black woman was stupid. I understand the sentiment and applaud it, but it was badly handled. He is basically saying he will discriminate on the basis of gender and skin color.

All he had to do is say “now that there is an opening, there is a brilliant Judge we have had our eyes on AND she happens to be a black woman! Win-Win!”

He should have had a list of black women Judges in his pocket since he was sworn in.

Disagree. He didn’t lose any (or many) votes by making the promise. Any that he lost were more then made up by people who approved of it.

And of course St Reagan did the same thing (although he didn’t specify race), and no one seemed to care back then.

TFG also said he would appoint a woman, and the MAGA crowd knodded and cooed, since it was understood he meant a white Christian woman. The only difference now is Biden specified a black woman. The only difference is race.

Binders of black women Judges. To borrow from Mittens.

I will not be surprised if many godly christians bring copies of the Quran to burn.

What would really be mean is to hand off a Bible to one of the “burning service” people and tell them your lumbago is acting up so could they please toss this “ko-ron” in…

Perhaps random shirtless skater dude from 9/11/2010 is due for an encore.

Give them a Bible printed in any language but English, and it’s a good bet they’d never be able to tell the difference.

Hell, even if they figured it out, I’m sure there’s a decent percentage who would still burn it, on the basis that a non-English bible is a tool of the Devil because it promotes multiculturalism.

The horror! The horror!

The important words of course being “back then.”

Speaking of face-eating, Governor Parson’s of MO is pissed that his nominee for the Health Department was rejected. Why was he rejected? Because he thinks vaccines work and are a good idea. He is adamantly against mandates, but why take a chance?

“I’ve been a conservative Republican my entire life,” Parson said, “and contrary to what some senators believe, tarnishing a man’s character by feeding misinformation, repeating lies and disgracing 35 years of public health experience is not what it means to be conservative.”

Gosh, who would think conservatives would tarnish someone’s character?

It wouldn’t be the KJV, the received Word of Jesus His own damn Self, in the only Earthly language He speaks, so it’s obviously demonic.
