It really does sound like something from North Korea. Worse, while this kind of thing would be wildly inappropriate in any department of the government, this is supposed to be a health department. You know, one tasked with giving out evidence-based health recommendations, not propaganda. But the rot spreading from the center of the Trump presidency clearly doesn’t stop at the normal boundaries.
If I read that article correctly it appears the judge gave them 1 day to make 80k+ phone calls… is that how others read it as well?
While it isn’t impossible to find a software autodialer who can handle 80k phone calls, even in a single day, it’s a very expensive task to get the script ready, the database ready, and to find a company with that sort of immediate availability would take a lot of phone calls, most of them going like this:
“Can you make 80,000 calls?”
“Sure, no problem!”
“In a day?”
“Yeah, we have the capacity.”
“… tomorrow?”
“$$$$!”
“Fuck. Jack? Looks like we’re going to jail.”
“Keep dialing kid. I’m calling in a few favors.”
An Arab-American comedian used Cameo to get Tomi Lahren, Corey Lewandowski, Joe Arpaio, and Sebastian Gorka all to record videos thanking Iblis (I.e. the Arabic name for Satan) for supporting Trump.
Speaking with HuffPost, Abedi said that he had paid Lewandowski and Lahren both $80 to record the message, and Arpaio $30. Gorka’s fee had been $45, but since Gorka ended up recording the message after the deadline, Abedi ended up paying nothing.
“They’re grifters who are stunningly ignorant and have no curiosity,” Abed said. “I left clues for them. I told them that Iblis was Arab American. If they had a sense of the world beyond MAGA, they’d research what Iblis means in an Arab context. I guess they’re true adherents to capitalism, placing money ahead of their own dignity.”
It would be sweet, sweet justice if they had to continue making the calls in prison – manually, and the script had something in the lines of, “My name is [Wohl/Burkman]. I made a phone call to you in August where I suggested that if you vote by mail, your person all information will be part of a public data base that will be used by police departments to track down old warrants and be used by credit card companies to collect outstanding debts. This was a total lie and if you believed it, you were a sucker. Are there any thoughts about this you would like to share with me?”
They would not be allowed to hang up and must take whatever abuse their victim decides to mete out. With a little luck this would limit them to two or three calls per hour.

But I’m not feeling all that sorry for them. Sure the judge gave them an impossible task to avoid punishment for their actions, but their actions deserved punishment.
I like @DesertDog’s idea. Basically hold them in contempt until all the phone calls are made, manually and personally.
There was a Biden campaign event planned outside Austin, Texas today, but a caravan of Individual 1 supporters, their pickups waving Individual 1 flags, surrounded it, trying to drive it off the road, and bumping the accompanying staffers’ cars.
The event was canceled.
A Biden/Harris campaign bus made a brief stop in downtown Austin and was heckled by around a dozen president Trump supporters. It was not immediately clear if senator Harris was travelling on the bus.
According to local Democrats, the same group of Trump supporters has been following the bus around the country in an attempt to disrupt events in key battleground states.
Rafael Anchía, a member of the Texas House of Representatives, said some of the agitators had been carrying weapons.
“Armed Trump trolls harassing Biden Bus on I-35, ramming volunteer vehicles & blocking traffic for 40 mins,” he said, before accusing Mr Trump’s son Eric of inciting “violence”.
Where the hell are the fucking police? I doubt Harris was on the bus or else the Secret Service is falling down on the job.
The fun part here is that there any number of videos of this posted all over social media. License plates are readily identifiable. Come January post every mother-fucking one of them on no-fly lists with TSA and open files with DOJ. Don’t do anything, just open files. Then let these assholes try to visit Grandma or get a bank loan or buy a house or anything else that requires even the most cursory background/record check. Done at the Federal level Texas law “enforcement” can’t do jack about it.
Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post is tweeting that a small band of Trump supporters is gathered near Bill Barr’s house to protest about him not doing enough to arrest Joe Biden.
