NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

Since Biden is ahead in Michigan, go ahead and “stop the count”, see if I care. Stop the count everywhere–Trump takes Pennsylvania (and Georgia), but Biden takes Arizona and Nevada, so Biden gets 270 votes in the Electoral College, Biden is sworn in as the 46th POTUS on January 20, 2021, and Trump can start shopping for a first class plane ticket to Moscow. (I hear the caviare au Novichok is really to die for!)

ETA: To be clear, of course I actually think they should count all the votes. But chanting “stop the count!” when your guy is behind is really fucking stupid.

And what does that tell you about this crowd? Hmmm?

No, no, no. You inject the bleach. You drink the Flavor-Aid.

Damn, it’s hard to remember all that stuff! :woman_facepalming:t4: You’d better send the brochure along with the supplies.

Nothing we didn’t already know.

It’s worth repeating…
Drink the bleach!

They have demonstrated over the past four years that stupid can get one quite some ways, but eventually it will be coming around to bite you on the ass, and, being stupid, one will not be able to learn from the teethmarks or adapt beyond kneejerk stupid.

The Republican candidate for governor of WA, a small-town police chief who ran on a platform of immediately ending all covid restrictions and refusing to enforce firearms laws, has not only lost in a landslide, but has lost his job after the town disbanded its police department due to (among other things) his pattern of ignoring sexual assault complaints, choosing to contract with the county sheriff instead.

Fortunately for him, the extended unemployment benefits and eviction moratorium he wanted to end if elected are quite generous and now available for his use.

Maybe they think if the count they’re protesting is stopped, it will never have happened and the figures will revert to where they were when Dear Leader was ahead.

Or maybe they’re dumb as a bag of hammers.

I believe he will be the Republican nominee for president in 2024 if DJT is not available. His resume is darn near perfect for the job!

Oh dear oh dear… could that be it?

A group of several hundred protested last night at the Maricopa county registrar’s office. To their credit – I guess – they’re not demanding the count be stopped, they just want to “be sure” the process was fair. One of the points of contention was apparently some polls handed out Sharpies for ballot marking and those ballots were being rejected. The registrar’s office said Sharpies work pretty well and the (two-sided) ballots were specifically designed with staggered columns so any bleed-through would not be a problem.

Of curse, the fact that the process is being live-streamed and there are representatives of both parties witnessing doesn’t placate them. Paul Gosar, Arizona’s answer to Michelle Bachmann, was in attendance, quoted as saying, “We’re not going to let this election be stolen. Period.”

Reports out that McConnell intends to block Biden from selecting his cabinet. Does someone want to remind McConnell that cabinet positions no longer require Senate confirmation, and Biden can just have everyone be “acting” cabinet members?

It’s Not OK When A Democrat Does It

Or maybe they don’t want Biden’s lead to increase, so that there is a better hope of flipping the state when the recounts happen.

And the Supreme Republican Court will see to it!

The best thing to come out of this election (assuming, as McConnell appears to, that Biden will prevail) is getting rid of Bill Barr.

I think a top priority of a Biden DOJ should be to commence investigations of congress persons engaging in foreign interference with US elections, influence peddling, election fraud… corruption and graft in general.

Might knock out one or two Republican senators that way. Maybe more.

Biden must make rooting out this corruption a top priority. By failing to pursue consequences for Nixon’s and Bush the Lessor’s crimes, we have emboldened Republicans to just pick up where they left off each time they regain control.

Loren Culp is a fucking idiot. He was one of the worst candidates you can imagine for governor of a state. His experience of running a business/government branch/any-sort-of-executive-level-experience is running a one-cop police force (he’s the one cop) in a city with a population of 1000. That’s it. He didn’t even graduate high school (he did somehow get his GED). He became famous for saying he wouldn’t stop an 18 year old from buying an AR-15 on his watch after WA passed that law. And the R’s in the state of WA lapped that shit up! Now Loren is whining that there is foul-play in the election count that somehow gave Inslee 600K more votes than him.

While he was off selling his brand of bullshit to the simple-minded across the state, the city of Republic found it was less expensive to have the county sheriffs doing their policing than paying Loren. Must suck to find you lose your job because someone else can do it for less. Seems like the city wants to run themselves more like a business and save money where possible. Very Republican like. He should be proud of his city.

That’s actually pretty typical behavior among Republicans here in the Soviet of Washington. In races for high-profile state offices or US Senate, their primary winner is frequently a right-wing ideologue — then when he/she gets stomped in the general election, they whine about being oppressed by the “lib’ruls” in Seattle and make vague allusions to forming the State of Liberty.

Worst? Who else was on the primary ballot? The Rs could have gotten behind, say, Tim Eyman, right?

Brings up an interesting point though. Should Biden play by the rules or not? Should he just appoint an entirely acting cabinet, and say, “Go fuck yourselves, you set the precedent,” or should he pivot back to normalcy?
