Plus most will just be morons anyway. A woman in a Facebook group I’m in posted a flyer that that said “ADA says it’s illegal for places to make you wear a mask”
I told her “Yeah, that’s incorrect” and linked to the ADA site AND to the DOJ notice specifically about that flyer and her response was “I don’t care. I’m still not wearing a mask”
God, I hate those people so much, and we’re even getting them here in Canada.
I’m one of those people with breathing problems who actually does find wearing a mask makes things worse. I also wear a mask because that very same problem makes it far more likely I’ll fucking die if I catch this thing.
But selfish assholes like that, trying to abuse systems put in place to help people, just so they can continue to be assholes and put my life, and a lot of other lives, at risk just piss me off so much. I’ve re-arranged my whole life, and also put up with no small amount of discomfort, to try to protect myself and others, and these jerks just can’t be bothered? And then they fucking lie about it?
It was a briefing with actual journalists in attendance, right? Did any of them attempt to confront him with the actual numbers? Or do briefings not include questions?
I hadn’t heard that before, but I did read that a dose of the virus, added to lysol and lemonade, provides your B vitamins. So probably works when mixed with ice cream too, I suppose.
The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic continues to accelerate. July 7 saw over 54,000 confirmed cases, a 72-percent increase over the previous two weeks. Many hospital intensive care units are completely full in Texas, Florida, Arizona, and elsewhere, and there is every sign the outbreak will get much worse before it gets better.
In response, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is laser-focused on … immunizing companies from legal liability if they infect their customers or employees. Meanwhile, President Trump is threatening to cut off federal aid to schools that do not reopen in the fall, despite the fact that neither he nor anyone else in his party has gotten behind the massive aid to states and local governments that would be a necessary precondition to even thinking about doing so safely.
The ruling Republican Party has all but given up on containment. Instead they are feeding the American people into the coronavirus meatgrinder.
…
My bold.
That’s Unca Mitch-- always lookin’ out for the Republican good!
Ohio state Rep. Nino Vitale is urging his constituents not to get tested for the coronavirus, flouting advice from health officials — and from another Republican lawmaker, Gov. Mike DeWine.
“This is what happens when people go crazy and get tested,” Vitale wrote on Facebook this week. “STOP GETTING TESTED!”
Vitale was evidently incensed by an order from DeWine and state health officials that people in seven Ohio counties with severe outbreaks must wear face coverings when out in public. That order took effect Wednesday.
Vitale shared an altered graphic about the order — in that version, there is an extra message at the bottom:
“!! NEVER GET TESTED !!”
…
The state lawmaker accused “the government” of using the pandemic “to claim something is happening that is not happening at the magnitude they say it is happening” — and apparently, to infringe on people’s rights.
“Stop listening to these frauds,” he wrote.
Ohio has reported around 60,000 confirmed and probable coronavirus cases, and nearly 3,000 people have died from COVID-19, according to the state health department.
Compared with the rest of the state, the pandemic has barely affected the three counties Vitale represents: Champaign, Logan and Shelby. Those counties have reported a combined total of six deaths, and their case counts are measured in tens, not in hundreds of thousands.
…
If only there was some way to prove that Nino . . . maybe some kind of a test procedure that proved people didn’t have Covid, I know, that’s crazy talk right Nino?

In order to issue and enforce executive orders related to Covid-19, Privett wrote that the governor must first “specifically state the emergency that requires the order, the location of the emergency, and the name of the local emergency management agency that has determined that the emergency is beyond its capabilities.”
[Kentucky Attorney General Daniel ]Cameron said in a statement that Thursday’s decision was “a clear win for the rule of law and will help Kentucky families and businesses across the Commonwealth who have suffered and continue to suffer financial losses and economic hardship because of the Governor’s executive orders.”
So a double whammy of a Republican judge who appears to be unable to understand the definition of an emergency, and a Republican AG who figures that keeping a plague from spreading via common sense measures is a hardship.
