NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 1)

 No kidding! I needed that laugh! Almost as good as the leech that feeds in hippo rectums. :+1:t3:

It’s my understanding that testing supplies are once again limited nationally. In San Antonio, at first you had to have symptoms in order to get tested, and then when things settled down, anyone could get tested. Now, with all the spikes and depletion of supplies, we’re back to only symptomatic people can get tested.

But all the attendees at the Republican National Convention next month (assuming there are any… Wouldn’t it be great “if they gave a convention and nobody came”?) will suck up beaucoups of those limited supplies getting tested every day??

(CNN)The Republican National Convention in Jacksonville, Florida, will feature daily coronavirus testing for those attending the event, which will be centered on President Donald Trump accepting the Republican nomination at a 15,000-person arena.

Erin Isaac, the spokeswoman for the host committee of the Jacksonville portion of the convention, said in an emailed memo on Monday that “everyone attending the convention within the perimeter will be tested and temperature checked each day.”

When reached by CNN on Monday night, Isaac repeated that attendees would be tested for Covid-19 and not just receive a more simple health screening.

The other thing that people don’t seem to understand is that getting tested does not keep you from getting the virus. Testing is not prevention or treatment. Testing (if you have the virus) is locking the barn door after the horse is stolen. And if you test negative at some point, but disregard precautions like masks/distancing, then you could pick up the virus as you exit the testing facility.

Do these people have shit for brains? Asked and answered.

But BUT BUT Didn’t he just say he told “his people” to “slow the testing down?” I’m SOOO confused!

It IS hard to keep up with the ping-pong thinking (using the term “thinking” very loosely). Doesn’t he realize that if they test and come up with positives, it will make them look very very bad? Oh dear oh dear what to do…

I mean, there’s not that much to it.

What’s the rush?? I’ve been assured that all of this nonsense with the masks and the social distancing will be over after the election. (How, exactly, this will work has not been explained to me yet.)

I had to look this up…I’m surprised the leeches survive the tail flicking. I’m half-tempted to post the video that accompanied the article for my creationist relatives.

MrDibble posted this a few days ago, and the ensuing fit of laugh-crying temporarily pulled me back from the brink of insanity.

Furthermore it takes a day or more to get the test results. So the best case scenario is going to be that they can say, well it looks like these 87 people who were hanging around the convention all of yesterday had the Corona virus.

That made my day as well.

That’s not what transgender means. The majority of trans people retain their original anatomy.

Chuck Grassley says he won’t be going to the Republican convention. If even your President pro tem of the Senate is boycotting …

I’m thinking this Jacksonville coronation is going to be a complete shit-show. Tulsa already showed us what the level of support is like when Covid is still a concern. And now that Florida’s case numbers are trending up… it does not look good.

“But wait!” cry the Trumpers. “That’s just because of more testing!”

No.

The state’s total number of cases grew by 6,336, down from the record 11,458 new cases on Saturday. The change came as fewer people were tested over the holiday weekend, due to the closing of state-supported testing sites. Still, the percentage of people infected — close to 1 in 5 of those tested — remained almost as high as last week.

“Not to worry, there is lots of money to hold the convention!”

No.

Report: Funds scarce to put on Republican convention in Jacksonville

“It’s only Grassley. Trump will just make up a mean nickname, and this lone senator will snap back into line”

No.

Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.) said on Tuesday that he will not attend his party’s national convention next month, becoming the second GOP senator to announce they will skip the event.

I hope this convention turns out to be an Epic Disaster for Trump.

I needed a happy thought to get me through the day. Thank you for that. :tada:

Republican Party spokeswoman is furious that Joe Biden wrote that all people are created equal.

Not that the Republicans are going to listen to anyone bearing biostatistics, but it’s worth pointing out that the COVID-19 nasal swab test is only about 70% sensitive. So they’re really only keeping 70% of the people with COVID-19 out of the arena on any given day. That’s better than nothing, I guess?

The crazy guy who said that Beyonce is Italian, is now calling for KPop to be banned. (And Tik Tok, too, but that’s not really a stupid idea).

Looking at his Twitter feed, I am starting to wonder if he’s a troll.

Just try ordering some of Jim Bakker’s end-times products (fifty phone people standing by waiting to take your order), and see if they don’t require your credit card’s expiration date.

Haha, that’s actually pretty good.

But they still have to extricate themselves from the fact that they made a bunch of loony claims about how masks actually make you sick because of the CO2 that’s trapped or somesuch nonsense. Not to mention all their complaints about any store or jurisdiction that requires them.

You underestimate their ability to just lie. A week after Trump endorses mask wearing, not one of those idiots will ever admit to having uttered such nonsense.

Everyone needs a carrot recorder.
