Strangely enough, God’s will perfectly lines up with what the person wants.
I didn’t know that, but I recall the news stories on Loudermilk saying that he was taking his “constituents” into areas that tourists aren’t normally allowed into, and they mentioned the tunnels. I figured they were off limits since the capitol police use the tunnels to move Congress and staff safely when the situation calls for it.
Like I said, this was the early 90’s and security theater may have been much more lenient back then. I was only in my early teens, so I don’t remember it all that well, but I do remember finding the tunnels and the underground trains to be fascinating.
You didn’t need an appointment or anything, you could just walk right into the Capitol and wander its halls, even go up into the galleries overlooking the Senate and House chambers and watch legislators legislate. They had guided tours, but you didn’t have to be on one to be there. I’m sure there were some off limits areas, but it was pretty open for the most part.
Same with the White House. That obviously had even more off limits areas, and to get into anything really beyond the gift shop you had to be on a tour, but you could still just show up and walk in.
That’s right, and that’s what caught the attention of those members of Congress (Rep. Sherill et al.) who reported the activity. (I don’t think all those who reported the tours witnessed the “photographing security checkpoints” incidents–they were reporting on the basis of the ‘violates COVID restrictions’ rules.)
Y’know, maybe god’s plan was that the loss of these children would serve the greater good by spurring the nation to enact laws that limit access to these instruments of death. I wonder if Paxton ever thought of that?

The right wing organization Salem Media, which owns Town Hall and Red State, financed Dinesh D’Souza’s election lying movie, “2000 Mules”. Ann Coulter published an article criticizing the movie on Town Hall, and Town Hall has taken it down without comment except to whine about how they are censored by Google.

Coulter was an early Trump supporter who dumped him in disgust because he was too soft on guns and immigrants. She hates him for all the wrong reasons, but she does hate him and she does a good job debunking the stupid premises of the movie and calling out Trump as a grifter.

As much as I’m enjoying the January 6th committees careful assembly of evidence proving former President Trump is a douchebag, I wasn’t seeing much in the way of criminal offense until this week’s underreported story about how Trump used his “Stop The Steal” fundraising appeals to grift his supporters out of 250 million, none of which was, in fact, used to fight election fraud.

The Texas Republican Part has banned the Log Cabin Republicans, a gay organization, from their upcoming convention, and the Log Cabin Republicans are shocked. Isn’t this the same party which has members saying every gay person should be shot?
A group of Proud Boys attacked Republican Congressman Dan Crenshaw and his staff at the Texas GOP convention, calling Crenshaw “eyepatch McCain”, a phrase made up by Fucker Carlson.
Apparently Tulsi Gabbard was there, too. When did she formally become a Republican?
GOP politicians, and their media arm Fox News, have been selling the idea that violence is the best way to deal with all issues for some time, now.
And so now they’re shocked that the targets of that message are actually…you know, using violence when they don’t like someone or something–even a fellow-Republican.
(And this won’t be the last time, either, I’m guessing.)
