NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

Wait a tic…are you implying that Hands Across America was some kinda secret Soviet plot, then?

Communism was a red herring.

I understood that reference

I am guessing this is a R idea, since it is Texas (an east surbub of Dallas).

{…} Among the things the dress code prohibits are denim pants {…}

WTF? Are they that stuck in the 1950s?
I’m shocked they don’t ban zoot suits too.

Banning hoodies is incredibly common in school dress codes, for some reason. At the school I was at last year, students were “obviously” not supposed to wear hoodies even on dress-down days. When I asked the administration why that was, the only answer I got was “it’s always been that way”. In fact, that entire list is pretty close to my school’s dress code (we also required that the shirts be either white, black, or navy blue polos, or a dress shirt with a tie).

A few years back my high school tried enforcing the way-out-of-date dress code. Then the senior boys started dressing in things that would get someone coded if they were female. Nada. Then the senior girls decided that since the dress code prohibited bra straps from showing in any way, they’d just stop wearing them. Admin decided that it wasn’t a hill worth dying on and formed a committee to rewrite/update the dress code. We ought to have a new one by the turn of the century.

This one or the next?

Next, of course. I will admit they were awake enough to realize that they just don’t make sleeveless tops for females with 2 inch straps anymore. Fashion changes, and the dress code must change with the times. Just don’t expect me to enforce it. That amount of hypocrisy is too much to ask.

Based on Supreme Court decisions and certain members pointedly asking to revisit precedent, I’m guessing the 19th century.

Note: The above is not a political statement. No warning issued. The Supreme Court and its members are above the partisan fray.

Lauren Boebert saw pallets of bricks stacked on the street and assumed they were there for antifa.

Trump-backed Arizona Senate candidate calls for eliminating Social Security.

John Cornyn calls for return to Separate But Equal.

My fucking god.

As I’ve said before, I kind of appreciate the mask coming off. It makes it clearer to everyone what we’re dealing with, and I have just the tiniest bit (microgram’s worth) more respect for honesty and courage of convictions over dog whistles and wink wink nudge nudge.

I think what he’s actually saying there is that if you think it was bad to overturn Roe then you should also think it was bad when Brown v Board reversed Plessy. See the liberal hypocrisy!

Please don’t make me defend John Cornyn again.

But Brown gave more rights than Plessy had, it wasn’t taking away established rights.

A QOP candidate for state senate in Rhode Island has been charged with assault after punching his Democratic opponent, a black woman, in the fave at an abortion rights rally.

Also, he’s a cop.

Of course, but Cornyn is responding to a tweet by Obama saying that the court has overturned 50 years of precedent. Cornyn is saying that Brown also overturned 50 years of precedent, and no one complaining about Dobbs would ever complain about Brown.

Now please stop. I can only take so many showers in a single day.

An Illinois GOP candidate with Trump’s blessing claimed that the Supreme Court’s decision was “[a victory for white life.”] at a rally yesterday. Claims she misspoke.
