In response to the reports that a 10-year-old rape victim was denied an abortion on Ohio, the state AG took to Fox News to declare that the story was made up.
Today, Columbus police arrested her rapist.
Dave Yost, the AG, issued a one-sentence response to the arrest:
“We rejoice anytime a child rapist is taken off the streets.”
He’s like a flag. Changes direction with the wind and flaps loudly.
He’s not alone on this one in the flapping. Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, and any number of YouTubers with large right-wing followings did the same thing: pretend to believe the story was invented and then fail to acknowledge how wrong they’d been.
And none of them will pay any price whatsoever for this stunt (which had to have caused great pain to the family of the 10-year-old, if not to the kid herself).
Pat Cipolloni thinks Mike Pence should get the Presidential Medal of Freedom because he did his job and certified the election. Is the bar so low that we should we give one to everyone in the Trump administration who obeyed the law and didn’t join the coup attempt? Kind of like a (non)participation trophy?
Well, I think that doing his job with his boss trying to force him to not do the job is pretty good, but he deserves nothing in the way of praise since after the insurrection, he still continues to support his boss.

I want the news cycle to be dominated by clips of a big Rose Garden ceremony featuring Joe Biden slipping the Presidential Medal of Freedom around Mike Pence’s neck as Pelosi and the Democrats cheer and congratulate him and line up to shake his hand. It would be the death of Pence’s political career, and the fact that this desirable outcome would be accomplished by Joe Biden LITERALLY slipping a rope around the neck of that god-bothering toady is an irony too delicious for words.
Remarks should include phrases such as “For putting Country and Democracy before party loyalty”…
I’ve said it before and I’ll keep on saying it: Republicans have perfected the art of talking out both sides of their ass simultaneously.
“… and personal loyalty to Donald Trump.” Gotta rub it in Trump’s face that Pence is getting an award for selling him out.
It just occurred to me that their speeches should reflect the idea that if it weren’t for Pence and his courage, Trump would’ve succeeded.
