NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

There was a similar issue in Missouri awhile back, where voters overwhelmingly approved Medicaid expansion, but state GOP said nope. Will of the people indeed. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

What’s going on with his teeth? They look like they don’t fit in his head.

That was Sept. 3rd.

I love how 1/3 of the screen is taken up with direct grifting of the rubes.

And when they are penniless, they will blame it on who? Never mind.

It’s Newsmax.

“Forget it Jake. It’s Newsmaxtown”

I think many of those are “I need to be as far right as possible to win the primary. Oh, I won? Gotta move towards the middle for the general election.”

They are scratching for anything now. Dumpsterfire (the albatross) and the SC abortion ruling hung around their necks and this is what they come up with???

Republican Leader Shrugs Off Dire Abortion Polls, Says Voters Care Most About Hunter Biden.

The pro-rape party.
Neo-Nazis party.
White replacement party.
Anti-science party.
Anti-climate party.
Pro gun violence party.
Conspiracy party.

You folks (the GQP) have a few image problems and you are calling out “Hunter Biden”???

The Republican base care most about Hunter Biden because that is what their media has been telling them to care about most. But the base alone isn’t enough to carry every election.

A New Mexico judge has ruled that Couy Griffin, the founder of Cowboys For Trump, should be removed from office as a county commissioner of Otero County, New Mexico for his participation in 1/6. The judge followed the requirements of the 14th Amendment for engaging " in insurrection or rebellion" against the United States.

I bring you Dr. Oz, shitheel ass kissing celebrity running for US Senate from New Jersey Pennsylvania. Here he manages to leave out a few essential facts trying to attack his opponent for having two wrongly convicted persons on John Fetterman’s staff. This is the “SCARY BLACK MAN” tactic from the GQP playbook. I also notice that Oz doesn’t have the required MAGA mascot in the background.

An old Dr. Oz comment about incest is trending. It’s… disturbing.

Much as I hate to give him any credit, he’s not wrong. In the USA, it is legal in every state for second cousins to marry, and the genetic risk for them is the same as if two unrelated people had a child. In short, genetically and legally, it isn’t incest.

https://www.thetech.org/ask-a-geneticist/can-you-marry-cousin

Read the rest of the article. He seems to imply that his daughters would be down to bone if they didn’t hate the way he smells.

I didn’t see anything particularly shocking in either Oz’s oversimplistic (if not downright scientifically false?) claims about “pheromones” somehow automatically deterring father-daughter incest, or his pointing out that sex between two people who are more distantly related than first cousins is not dangerous from a genetic point of view. Neither of those things is advocating or endorsing actual incest.

What I found concerning was his cavalier attitude to the caller who was obviously distressed by the familial and sexual entanglement with his cousin (unclear whether the cousinship is first or more distant) and wanted to figure out how to stop it. The caller wasn’t saying how great the situation was and how happy they were except for the potential incest part, the caller wanted help in desexualizing what he clearly sees as a primarily familial relationship.

Dude, if somebody is unhappy about their relationship and wants out, you acknowledge that! You don’t just reassure them “hey no worries, it’s not actually incest if you’re not first cousins or closer” and go on your merry way!

Hope he doesn’t start mixing Febreeze with his aftershave.

Congressman Mike Johnson (Q-LA) would like it to be known that Danny DeVito is evil and millions of children are being corrupted by his Satanic influence.

I wasn’t sure how to read that, to be honest. At first I thought ewww, then I thought that maybe he was giving that as an example of how evolution has wired humans so that we don’t mate too closely in a family line. As in, parent and offspring too close, so they smell bad to each other. Second cousins distant enough, so no warn-off smell. The way he worded it was definitely creepy.

I’m seeing quite a few folks getting all squicked about the idea of second cousins having sex (which is what he was responding to) and calling it incest. All I’m saying is that legally and medically, in the USA, second cousins getting married isn’t considered incest and is legal.

And for a change, he didn’t offer advice in a field he has no qualifications for (counseling).

That’s just ridiculous.

If there’s an actor on that show anyone should be afraid of, it’s clearly Aubrey Plaza.
