NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

Ask anyone who parrots that tweet to provide an example of a good thing he’s done for Israel. See what they say. I’ll bet most replies are along the lines of putting the burden of proof back on you (ie ‘look it up yourself’).

He actually did a fair amount to support Israel as the expense of the Palestinians. The most obvious being recognizing Jerusalem as capital of Israel. As well as launching a very one-sided peace plan. It is open to debate as to whether these were “good things” for Israel long term, but its not to hard to point to real things that Trump did that Isreali nationalists might like.

On the other hand, this tweet might prove to be a self-defeating prophesy, as its likely to significantly erode the support its boasting about. I’m just waiting for him to declare himself “King of the Jews”.

  1. The Abraham Accords.
  2. Recognition of Jerusalme as Israel’s capital.
  3. Recognition of Israel’s annexation of the Golan.

No. 3, I grant you, is problematic, although seeing as the chaos in Syria won’t be dying down any time soon, and seeing as Israel would have suffered greatly if the Golan had been in Syrian hands during this period of chaos, the chance that Israel will be giving the Heights back as part of a comprehensive peace agreement any time soon is negligible. If such a peace does arrive, Israel can give up annexed land too, if it has to

No. 1 was good for everyone. It was good for Israel, for the Gulf states, for the U.S. (which got to strengthen its alliances in the Middle East), and even for the Palestinians - the agreement halted a desperate plan by Netanyahu, who was desperate to get re-elected, to annex the West Bank.

No. 2 benefitted Israel, obviously, but I don’t think it hurt the Palestinians, either. Jerusalem has been Israel’s capital, declared and de facto, since 1950, whether or not the rest of the world recognizes it, and nothing short of nuclear weapons will ever change that. If, some day, the Palestinians want a section of the city as their own capital as well, an agreement can be reached to re-divide the city in some future agreement. In the meantime, America righted what Israelis see as a 70-year wrong.

Look, I despise Trump. I think he’s an ile buffoon who cares nothing for democracy, the rule of law, morality or common decency. I think he’s a bigot, a misogynist and a casual anti-Semite who doesn’t give two shits about Israel or anything else that isn’t himself. He was a bad president who was bad for America, and anything bad for America is a priori bad for Israel as well.

However, as an Israeli I can’t, in good faith, say that he hasn’t done good things for my country. I’m not sure why he did them - probably because he was too stupid to understand the reasons the U.S. hadn’t done them before - but he did, and I believe that, completely by accident, he did the right thing.

I wasn’t aware of those things, but my overall point still remains. Would your average MAGA/Trumper be able to come up with anything?
In fact, my original point was a more general comment that when someone makes a vague “[insert politician name here] did a lot of good things” it’s worth pushing them for more detail. Maybe it’s there and you’ll learn something (like I did) but I still think, more often than not, it’s just an empty statement that they aren’t expecting any push back on. One thing I’ve learned is that people parroting Fox News talking points rarely have any concrete examples to back them up with (and you’re the asshole for not blindly believing them).

Easy, he wanted the Nobel Peace Prize. Other US Presidents have gotten the prize for their work in the middle-east, and that damn Obama got one just for being Obama!!! So, in Trump’s mind, he needed to get one to: A. Because Trump is the greatest evah! B. Show up that **** Obama!

I had an online discussion in another forum with someone who pulled out a list of sixty-something things that Donald Trump had done to make our country better.

So I asked him what he thought was a significant improvement in the US-South Korea trade deal that “Trump renegotiated.” He replied with a few provisions that he apparently cribbed from Wikipedia.

I pointed out the rather insignificant economic effect that those provisions had on US-RoK trade.

That’s when the profanity started.

I can see why you would say that but I am certain he recognized Jerusalem as the capitol because he had some super-right-wing GOPer explain that would get him the fundie Christian vote.

Avi Berkowitz and Jared Kushner were the ones who negotiated the Abraham Accords for the US, right? Mike Pompeo deserves more credit for them than TFG. All he did was show up and sign where they told him to.

Dr. Oz drinks his own pee.

Unfortunately, he’s more of a “He talks real nice for a n****r” type of guy. I think the GOP have left dog whistles long behind them.

What good news for the asylum seekers. That’s on top of the extra visa rights they got from being trafficked as a political stunt. It would be hilarious if all these people were originally headed to Florida because they have family there. Thanks for speeding things up things on our visas, Governor!

It’s giggle-able but not as giggle-able as a litter box in every classroom for kids that think they are cats. Really, they keep outdoing themselves with stupid. There really is no bedrock with these guys.

Well, he lost the 2020 election. What were the other fifty-nine?

A common theme in Trump re-negotiations. It’s stupidly easy to play Trump, because he gets fixated on the most trivial petty things, and decides that those are the Most Important Issues! So, drag your feet on those a bit, and then offer to let him have everything he wants in exchange for some “meaningless” (meaning, things Trump doesn’t care about) concessions, so he can brag about how he “won”, and you can take him to the cleaners.

Hey, I’m old enough to remember the “Miracle on Ice” when the American Olympic ice hockey players beat the Russians and how ecstatic we all were. If they are helping our daughters to beat the Russians at field hockey too, that’s a win for us!

Texas is sending DNA kits to schools so that when the kids are murdered in a school shooting, they can be identified.

Well, I found a list of 30 of his “accomplishments”

Not linking to the source. Obviously, most of these are “what, you call that a good thing???” Many are just as laughable as if Individual-ONE had said them himself, and I am not convinced that there is even one that is seen as an unalloyed positive.

And let’s not forget that a lot of those things, he didn’t even do. He never protected unborn babies, built a border wall, supported religious freedom, promoted energy independence, defeated ISIS, protected freedom of speech, sent weapons to Ukraine, had a wise COVID-19 response, reformed criminal justice, reduced drug prices, or protected federal property. And heck, the first one on the list, the most notable thing about his judicial appointments is how few of them there were-- He left tons of positions empty.

Nick “You kissed a girl! That is SO GAY!” Fuentes is now just outright calling for a pogrom.

I’m sure Ben Shapiro, Dennis Prager, and Jared Kushner are completely pleased with the Very Fine People their dear leader has inspired.

Cognitive dissonance, dead ahead!

Speaking of Mr. West, I heard he is going to buy TrvthSocial and Parler and merge them under the name “Yeller”.

Some MAGAt on Twitter with motor oil for brains claims that there is video of schoolkids (elementary age) going to drag shows and “handing the performers dollar bills.” Anybody caught a whiff of this?

Someone named Matt says anime causes possession.
