NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

It’s a two-fer: guns and voting, with a side of “what about the children?”.

Texas Election Source on Twitter: “Citing a stabbing incident at UT-Austin and the Uvalde elementary school mass shooting, Rep. Carrie Isaac (R) files the Texas Campus Protection Act (HB 2390) to protect school children by prohibiting people from voting on school property.” / Twitter

A businessman and “anti-woke” author named Vivek Ramaswamy, who happens to be of the Hindu faith and practices vegetarianism and whose parents were born in India, actually believes he has a snowball’s chance in Hell at becoming the presidential nominee of the party of white supremacists, Christian nationalists, and mentally ill conspiracy theorists.

Does she think kids are there while people vote?

This item could just as well have gone in the Omnibus Stupid MFs in the News thread.

Do you think that kids get Election Day off? We used to vote at our local elementary school, it was moved after one or another of the school shootings (or maybe just a shooting in general, it’s been a while and of course so common that the precipitating event is no longer memorable).

I opposed moving it then and still do - I think there is a certain free civics lesson in grade school kids seeing adults lining up to select their representatives.

That’s true, I was being foolish. I’m used to going when school is over.

It’s notable how many people think their own particular marginalized (by the GOP anyway) group are the exception. I still shake my head at the Log Cabin Republicans - and they STILL exist.

Not just “marginalized” - there are republicans that actually want them dead!

Alaska state rep says that society benefits when abused children die because we don’t have to spend money on taking care of them.

Clearly, Republicans consider voting to be more dangerous than shooting people.

Yes, of course. Is that not the case everywhere in the country?

It is not.

There’s a bill before the Florida state legislature making freedom of the press a thing of the past.

He’s been censured. He’s a charmer.

Is there something in the water in Wasila?

How is this not a complete violation of the First Amendment? Hasn’t the right to criticism and parody been upheld over and over by the Supreme Court? I have to believe this would get challenged in a heartbeat and be struck down by the first court to hear it.

Doesn’t matter about the first court to hear it, it’s up to the Republican Supreme Court.

Well, Wasilla is just over the ridge from the place where they used to raise the Matanuska Valley Thunderfuck strain.

Highlights from Loser Donald’s Big Boy Trip to East Palestine - plugging his brand of bottled water, bragging that he knows more about McDonald’s than anyone, and telling the beleagured townsfolk to “have fun”.

Now that I think about it, I’d vote for a 120 year-old Biden over whatever that thing is.

Since he’s from Alaska, how about going old-school Aleut and set him out on an ice floe?
