I suggest George Santos. His name is close, and he was probably a geriatric billionaire at some point in his life.
Huge asterisk: I’m not arguing that any book should be removed from a library. Just that the bible is at the top of the list of the most destructive. It’s in the same list of fictional books like the Book of Mormon, Toran, Qur’an, etc.
But if any should be removed, it is these. But don’t.
None of which should be in a school library. Public libraries are a much better place for them.
There’s no problem with them being in a school library. There’s no problem with any other genre either, IMHO, being in a school library.
“Ken Ivory”? It sounds like a bad fanfic name.
Clay Higgins wants libraries to be run by churches and funded by the federal government
Over time, American communities will build beautiful, church owned public-access libraries. I’m going to help these churches get funding. We will change the whole public library paradigm.
The libraries regular Americans recall are gone. They’ve become liberal grooming centers.
And just in case you mistakenly thought he had any regard for the rest of the constitution, check out what good ol’ Wiki has to say:
Higgins has appeared and spoken at events organized by fringe, anti-government militia groups such as the Three Percenters and the Oath Keepers.
&
In 2004, Higgins became a patrol officer for the Opelousas City Police Department. By 2007, Police Chief Perry Gallow was prepared to take major disciplinary action against Higgins. In a letter to the City Council, he wrote, “Clay Higgins used unnecessary force on a subject during the execution of a warrant and later gave false statements during an internal investigation…although he later recanted his story and admitted to striking a suspect in handcuffs and later releasing him”. Higgins resigned before disciplinary action could be imposed.
There’s a lot more in the Wiki article. This clown should be in jail himself.
Eh, I’ve looked into them, and they typically don’t have a good enough water supply.
Man, are they still ripping on that one? I really think they should embrace it; it did far more to make me interested in Christianity than all other “Christian” media combined. They could take a few lessons from it, I think. Not the least in humility.
I laughed for quite a while at that one. Good job!
Agreed. Willem DeFoe’s portrayal of Jesus in that movie was fantastic, (spoilers for a 40 year old movie) and Jesus’ decision at the end to die on the cross, rather than live a normal life was moving.
It should be required watching for self-proclaimed Christians. Ah, who am I kidding? They would just clam up over anything that doesn’t portray Jesus as anything but “perfect”.

They would just clam up over anything that doesn’t portray Jesus as anything but “perfect”.
Yeah, I think that was the real problem they had with the movie. It portrayed Jesus as having doubts, and not being 100% sure of what he was supposed to do right form Day One. Even leaving aside the end, with his decisions about living or dying, his early attempts at preaching were shown as a bit confused and scattered, until he started finding his groove.
Probably a far more real portrayal of what such a life would have been like, but since it’s not the “Perfect Jesus, no crying he makes” thing they’re promoting, it has to be suppressed.

It’s in the same list of fictional books like the Book of Mormon, Toran, Qur’an, etc.
Toran???

It portrayed Jesus as having doubts, and not being 100% sure of what he was supposed to do right form Day One. Even leaving aside the end, with his decisions about living or dying, his early attempts at preaching were shown as a bit confused and scattered, until he started finding his groove.
All of which is right there in the Bible, though perhaps not the GQP Edition.
And he went a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me --Matthew 26:39
Is not this the carpenter’s son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? And they were offended in him. --Matthew 13:55-57
Surely you don’t expect those who use the bible as a cudgel to have read the goddamn thing?
Which is particularly galling, since, “Hey, maybe we should read this “Bible” thing for ourselves, instead of leaving it to the elite priests!” was the whole basis of Protestantism.
