NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

I’m…not sure he doesn’t know who King is? The “gave a shit” remark makes me think he’s saying King is a has-been?

Which is still, dumb, mind; once you get to King’s level, I’m not sure you can ever be a has-been.

Yes Yes Yes.

Build communities all over Russia and Hungary for the anti-American maga trash. Build a statue of Trumperty: “Give me your stupid, your racist, your unvaxed masses yearning to breathe covid.” A lily white paradise for the snowflakes.

Eight. I too enjoyed that movie.

The Dope - connoisseurs of bad 80s movies and geopolitical strategery!

I’d never heard of it: The Experts.

Looks like fun. Available to rent on Amazon Prime. John Travolta and Kelly Preston met on the set of this film.

Have to get past Travolta’s curly mullet.

Dance scene.

There’s a line from that movie that I still use occasionally. If I need to pause to take care of something before doing something else - I don’t know, I gotta go turn off the stove before I leave - I’ll say, in my thickest Russian accent:

“I’ll be right back; I’ve got to go flip the flops.”

The Party is dropping all pretense:

Kansas GOP considers kicking minority, youth and women’s groups out of party leadership

Kansas Republicans are moving closer to kicking groups representing women, Black, Hispanic and young Republicans off the state party’s executive board, a move that would consolidate the power of its new hard-right chairman.

The Kansas Republican Party’s rules committee advanced a proposal this week that would change the party bylaws to remove constituency groups aimed at broadening the reach of the party. It would also oust state and federal GOP elected officials from the board, which oversees party operations and budgetary decisions.

More at the link.

I know, “feature/bug,”, but this is incredibly shortsighted, even for republicans. What incentive are they giving those groups to continue to vote Republican? They don’t want those groups represented, but I’m quite sure that they’re still expected to vote Republican.

I’m sure the optimal outcome is to do away with elections altogether, and just have representatives appointed. But in the meantime, they’re openly driving those groups into voting against them. It’d be nice for the Democrats to pick up more than a few of these people.

Today they don’t want those groups to vote, period. Disenfranchising them ensures that only the “right kind of people” vote. If they can’t vote, they can’t vote Democrat.

I don’t believe they consider voting to be all that important to the process.

…for life.

Elections are just too messy. So many things can go wrong. Especially the wrong people winning.

This is Kansas. How many folks are in these groups representing “women, Black, Hispanic and young Republicans”?

10? 15? Not a huge loss of a voting block for them.

Over 50% of Kansas voters are women. 18% are minority. 45% are age 44 or younger. Not all of them vote Democrat. Given that the GOP is the dominant party in the state, you might think that the Pubs might want to include these groups in their decision-making.

The GQP has never really been into the whole “inclusion” thing.

No, their goal will be to prevent them from voting. They don’t need them in the (R) party if they’re not allowed to vote.

No, the group at the head of the Kansas GOP wants these groups to know their place and mind the word of their rightfully God-annointed betters.

Surprise, surprise, the informants who have the scoop on the Bidens have gone missing. Of course, it’s because of intimidation from the Biden family and/or the media.

The thing about majorities is, when you intersect all of the majority groups, you end up with quite a small minority. And yeah, a move like that makes sense once you’ve removed all of the minorities from the electorate, but even Kansas hasn’t actually managed to do that yet.

…Is Fox News sucking up to the Shah now?

Exactly. If they are still supporting Republicans at this point, it won’t be a stretch for them to think that the party knows best and what are they going to do, vote for a Democrat?
