Rhode Island is small enough that maybe they could just do a head count.
Brilliant strategy – somebody finally noticed that “Generic Republican” runs well ahead of any actual member of the party with a record and everything.
Earlier this week, right-wing media ran with a story about dozens of needy veterans being kicked out of a hotel in upstate New York to make way for undocumented migrants.
Turns out the entire story was made up by an anti-immigrant group and the “veterans” were homeless men who had been paid to play along.
FAKE NEWS!
The homeless men were not paid to play along!
They were promised $200 to play along, but it good Trumpian fashion the organizers stiffed them.
Oh the good old days, when Republicans merely lied about things.
Now they set up skits, pay actors, … wait a minute! Were those actors union?? This can’t stand!
Crisis actors? I thought that a liberal thing?
Every accusation Republicans make is a confession of what they do. A counter example simply means we haven’t caught them yet.
What do you have against plumbers? That Mario fellow seems great!
And what are the chances that those right wing media sites retract these claims?
[Kenobi wave/]What claims? [/Kenobi wave]
Ted Cruz doin’ some serious governmentin’ –
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) this week opened a Senate investigation into his allegations that Anheuser-Busch markets Bud Light to underage consumers in its ad featuring transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney.
…Mulvaney, a 26-year-old actor who chronicled her transition to a wide audience on TikTok, appeared in a one-off Instagram post promoting Bud Light for March Madness. She showed off a can with her likeness that the brand made especially for her.
…
My bold.
Gotta nip this sort of thing in the bud… er, Bud.
How much of those thirteen years was just not getting caught?
After all, if it’s the first time, how did he know how to use a crack pipe and how to obtain crack in the first place?
And why wasn’t he charged with DUI?
Ten Republican state senators in Oregon are now banned from running for reelection due to excessive absenteeism, caused by their no-showing sessions to try to block passage of abortion and LBGT rights bills.
I’ve been listening to the yahoos on WABC spouting this for several days. I knew it was BS just because they were saying it, but thanks for the confirmation.
Several civil rights groups have just issued a travel advisory on Florida.
So, stolen valor.
Technically they were paid, so not “stolen” valour.
More like crisis actors, in my opinion.
Didn’t the courts decide “stolen valor” was only a thing if the perpetrator were paid or received something of monetary value?
I like your take, though.
That’s funny. I hadn’t thought of it like that. I’m nearly positive at least one right wing nut job got into trouble for accusing people on the left of using crisis actors.
I’m not digging into the law any deeper than this, but wiki says you have to be doing it with the " intention of obtaining money, property, or other tangible benefit by convincing another that he or she received the award. "
I’m not even sure we have to worry about whether or not she paid them or if she even offered to since they received food, drink and transportation to the ‘job site’. At the very least, the food and drink, I assume, are considered tangible benefits. In the end, they dressed up like vets in exchange for food and drink.
But something to keep in mind is that we’re not trying to prove the homeless men broke stolen valor laws. The question is what, if any, laws did the person that hired them break? Stolen Valor by proxy?
Military Munchausen by Proxy?
