NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 2)

Some type of fraud?

I’m in Spain right now and have overheard several conversations about choosing not to travel to the US due to gun violence and threats to minorities and foreign visitors.

Time for an update and expansion of The Green Book?

Thing is, I really genuinely don’t believe that tourists have anything physical to fear from gun violence in the United States. Yes, it’s a serious problem. Yes, it’s perfectly legit to make it a factor in travel planning for political reasons. Yes, places with more gun violence may be a reflection of larger issues worth considering. But I just don’t think that the fear of being actually physically shot is solid enough to warrant concern.

Now, if you’re not white, that absolutely complicates this at least a little.

Exactly what my sister said when I mentioned this issue to her!

I’d add stay away from crowds. Lots of targets for burst effects.
Stay away from suburban neighborhoods. They believe in standing your ground.
Also, avoid hot tourist cities. They attract the crazy and tall buildings are ideal for overseeing kill zones.
Oh yes, avoid open fields. You might be walking on property owned by one of the Bundys.

Other than that, everywhere else is safe.

Also, small towns. Especially if you see lots of pickup trucks parked at the local diners and/or Walmart.

Stay off the roads. Road rage, you know.

So, you don’t believe tourists have anything to fear… as long as they’re white tourists?

Considering that white people don’t even make up a plurality of the global population, let alone a majority, that’s a… pretty anglo-centric way to think about it.

This young man looked pretty white…

Less to fear than darker-skinned tourists? Absolutely, examples like the following post notwithstanding. It’s like white privilege; people in general still have a lot to worry about, but some specific groups have more to worry about than others.

And stay away from public schools. The teachers aren’t properly trained to defend against gun violence.

She represents Northwest Omaha. You would think somebody might have clued her in.

“I don’t watch the news or get the newspaper,” she told the magazine. “Is there anything going on I should be aware of?”

<Obi-Wan wave>

No, nothing to see here… just move along…

I don’t think that applies here. They weren’t convincing the people who paid them (or at least, were supposed to pay them). Those people were the ones who set up the con in the first place.

Isn’t Walmart the local diner?

Tucker Carlson is suing a PAC that wants Tucker Carlson to run for president.

Catching up with the “Guns, Babies, Jesus” woman.
Right Wing Watch on Twitter: “Kandiss Taylor, who ran for governor in 2022 and recently became a Georgia GOP district chair, is a flat earther: “Everywhere there’s globes … and that’s what they do to brainwash.” https://t.co/PEz1sqOTvA” / Twitter

On the earth being round: If it’s not a conspiracy, if it is true, why are they pushing it so hard?
Best line: If I was a normal person.

In other words, they are running a scam and he’s not getting his cut.

Did you miss the rest of my post?

But something to keep in mind is that we’re not trying to prove the homeless men broke stolen valor laws. The question is what, if any, laws did the person that hired them break? Stolen Valor by proxy?
