NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

There are lots of people trying to not look into this, mostly QOP.

Every.Single.Accusation.

Want a piece of Trump’s mugshot suit from Georgia? Now it can be yours! Makes an amazing holiday gift! They’ll never forget your generosity!

How many tons of “splinters of the True Cross” did medieval hucksters sell? I’ll bet Trump could sell at least that many tons of threads from his mugshot suit.

…or chips off the Berlin Wall

I just want to agree that the greatest threat to Jews is college presidents and certainly not Proud Boys and their ilk chanting “The Jews will not replace us!”
Thank the gods the Republicans in Congress see the true threat here.

I believe those living brain donors weren’t chanting “The Jews”, just “Jews won’t replace us”, without “the”. You know, to have a whiff, an air, an odeur of plausible deniability. Well, more of a stench.

It’s those Ivory Towers. Ever since Tolkien, you can’t trust anyone in a Tower.

And I have no doubt is say a year ago, if students chanting that slogan at a protest on campus were sanctioned, the cries of cancel culture from the right would be deafening.

Not so long ago, many of the same people were complaining that conservatives were being silences on college campuses. Now they’re complaining that others are being allowed to express their opinion.

Yes, of course the Proud Boys are a threat (to many groups, racial/ethnic/religious what-have-you, very much including Jewish people).

But university presidents can set a tone that says ‘sure, Jewish people are fair game here because of the 1st Amendment though we enforce standards, regardless of 1st Amendment, against those who call for the genocide of OTHER groups.’ They can supplement that tone-setting with pushing for actual rules and requirements.

Or they can set a tone that says ‘calling for the genocide of Jewish people is unacceptable under any and all conditions, period.’

They can influence millions of young people with their tone and the rules they push for. And not just young people–all people. They have the credibility of being in a position of respect (and some power). They can normalize anti-Semitism, if that’s what they want to do.

That does matter.

ISTM that the debatable part here is deciding what rhetoric can be validly described as “calling for the genocide of Jewish people”.

I mean, I’m pretty sure that saying “Kill the Jews” on college campuses would be guaranteed to get shut down quite hard. The issue is whether college administrations should treat slogans like “Free Palestine” as equivalent to “Kill the Jews”.

Is saying, for example, “We stand with Israel” equivalent to calling for the genocide of Palestinian people? Where do we draw the line about what rhetoric carries what implied meaning that needs to be rejected?

Loser Donald sez; vote for me and Christmas 2024 is going to be absolutely unes!

You mis-heard “UNES economy”, which makes it clear that Trump is going to re-name the country post-election (but pre-inauguration, because when you’re a star, they let you do that).

Welcome to the United Nationalist Evangelical States*.

*Does not include California or Vermont.

Actually, I think it might have been a “Eunice” economy, which I take to mean that a kindly old lady will be baking cookies for everyone.

Actually, it will be a “You, niece” economy, in which we’re all living off our niece’s OnlyFans revenues after everything else just gives up after Trump wins again.

No, no… that’s just the special way he pronounces *covfefe."

In today’s news of the stupid, Empty Greene insists that all those high-paying jobs Biden created are going to destroy Earth The United States The Economy Mom&Pop stores.

“I’ll tell you what I think about this. It’s not right for the government, state or federal, to fund companies to move into an area to compete with existing companies and steal workers away. And that’s something Joe Biden bragged about. Oh, he’s bragging big about the battery plant that’s being built and solar panel plant. And I’m not against any company, but I’ll tell you what I am against. I’m against the federal government and the state government giving tax credits and giving all this taxpayer money help to plant a company somewhere when there’s already not enough workers. And then that company with all the federal and state tax help, gets to steal workers away from these existing home grown, small businesses or big businesses, but Georgia based companies where they are stealing these workers away. That’s wrong, but Joe Biden thinks that he’s done something great. And I just let him brag about it and go, ‘Bless his heart.’ He’s just so pitiful.”

We could let some hard working, starving immigrants in. Fix the law so they will come legally. Make it affordable and accessible.

Instead of what we’re doing. Just a suggestion.

Oh shoot, wrong thread.
