It’s a little late to be complaining about that sort of thing. From wikipedia:

“American Idiot” was very explicitly a political song railing against the right wing. “Holiday” even more so. It’s not surprising that idiots mistook the obvious left leaning message of the song, though. What’s especially disappointing is that almost every headline says they “changed” the lyric, when really they simply updated the lyric to match current verbiage. Green Day was and is criticizing the exact same people.
