“I trust in God’s will, but I hope it changes in my favor because MAGA!” Not his words, but his intent.
Personally I love it when the yallqueda crew come right out and admit they’re doing what they can to thwart the will of God.
In the history of God that argument has never worked since their thwarting is also part of God’s will. If God’s will is for Biden to be president, but they thwart it and Trump is president, then God’s will was actually for it to play out that way.
Or, allowing Biden to get the close to winning was a ‘test’ for the MAGA crowd.
Or, God works in mysterious ways/I have ‘faith’ in his plan.
Or, at this point, just make something up. I swear you could tell people the bible says President Donald J Trump will be elected a second time, and they’d eat it up.
“We’ll trade our share of the demographic that are the most reliable voters for an equal number of the demographic who are the least reliable voters. Mathematically, that should be a wash, right? Right?”
Gods, I hope they put this guy in charge of all their electoral strategies.
I’m honestly kind of surprised he even came out and admitted that. They usually stay as far away from this discussion as they can, when their guy loses.
Of course, I’m not at all surprised that the whole “Will of god” thing was just a smokescreen for “We’re still going to keep trying to do what WE want to do.”
For some maybe, but Johnson is apparently a true believer
Of course, in the way of these things, it probably would not surprise most to learn the “will of God” tends to work to Johnson’s personal benefit or beliefs nearly all the time.
You all have to remember, these are the sort of people for whom it is the Will Of God and you have to humbly accept His Mysterious Plan if a bus with 50 children is crushed by a landslide, but it is A Great Miracle To Celebrate God For that one of them gets pulled out alive.
You know…morons.
I always want to ask, so, did the 49 that died not pray enough?
It’s usually something like, “God loved them so much that he called them home early to be with him”, which I figure just kind of makes the surviving kid wonder why they didn’t make the cut.
It’s just fucked up all around, is what I’m saying.
Oh yes!
“So, God wants us all to live in heaven…so those that live a long life on earth have done something wrong?”
They never think this through.
If I make God hate me enough, will I live forever?
They never think this through.
They really don’t. It’s just glurge applied to real-life events.
Glurge is the catch-all term for "inspirational" tales which purport to offer uplifting and timeless truths, but for various reasons — they carry Unfortunate Implications, they don't make sense once you've thought about them, or the medium …
If I make God hate me enough, will I live forever?
Only the good die young.
It’s basically “heads I win, tails you lose” dressed up a bit. Plus you give them 10% (min) of your income
I think a lot of that is supposed to bring believers comfort and acceptance. It can’t be changed or really explained in a rational way so religion tries to explain it in a religious way. No, it doesn’t make sense and is not logical/rational, but some people find comfort in it. As far as the political stuff? Religion can be used in multiple ways for comfort in times of confusion and grief, and an excuse for any behavior you wish to take part in. God wanted me to do it is powerful to these people. Don’t even get me started on, “Free Will.”
I’m honestly kind of surprised he even came out and admitted that. They usually stay as far away from this discussion as they can, when their guy loses.
He was asked this directly by a reporter at a news conference after he made a big deal about how god called him to be speaker, so he kinda had to say something.
so he kinda had to say something.
Yeah, but he’s a politician! Weaseling out of such questions is a key skill, and yet, he doesn’t do that. Hell, he could have even gone with the “The Devil Did It!” defense, and you know his supporters would have bought that.
“Those Demoncrats rigged the Holy Vote!”
It’s the electoral equivalent of Chris de Burgh’s “Spanish Train”
And far away in some recess
The Lord and the Devil are now playing chess
The Devil still cheats and wins more souls
And as for the Lord, well, he’s just doing his best
