Their bluff? That’s exactly what they want to happen.
Exactly right. They wanted her and her staff to prove that each and every book met the newly adopted ‘standards’. To which she rightfully said EFF YOU.
Caitlyn Jenner is shocked to discover that the leopards want to eat her face too.
That’s MY local library, by the way. Good on the folks that are pointing out the utter fucking insanity that is enveloping this area.
The comments on local articles have mostly been in support of the fired librarian and railing against the stupid library board, too.
Someone needs to remind her that Trump also thinks she’s a deviant, but she supported him* so she’s allowed to use the women’s restroom in the lobby of his building.
If she was featured in a Desantis ad, at some point a reporter is likely to ask Trump about her. I genuinely don’t know what he’ll do in that situation.
*with full knowledge that it would tank her career.
I watched I Am Cait (and it’s the closest thing to a Kardashian show I’ve ever seen). Her (trans) friends made it very, very clear, behind the scenes and with cameras rolling that if she supports Trump, she’s going to alienate all her supporters.
Career? What does she do?
Remember that really woke dude way back about two thousand years ago? He got nailed to a cross for real. Can"t risk it. They’ll just act like they have been crucified themselves.
Nothing any more.
She had a chance for her own Kardashian (adjacent) spinoff but blew it in the second season when she started talking up Trump (and Cruz). IIRC, she ended up at a Trump rally at one point. Why on earth did she think that would be a good idea?
And WTF does she mean when she says she “was the first person in the world to put up our flag”?
I helped raise the flag at summer camp earlier the same summer that she won the decathlon gold, so maybe I was actually the first?
From what I’m reading she was the first to do a victory lap with a flag. I’m assuming that’s what’s being referenced.
From wiki:
After the event [1976 Montreal Olympics], Jenner took an American flag from a spectator and carried it during the victory lap, starting a tradition that became common among winning athletes.
Figured it was something like that. She appears to share Trump’s “gift” of negligently embellishing the truth into an idiotic lie.
I’m curious, are they elected or appointed or what? Any chance they could get voted out next election?
Matthew DePerno, who unsuccessfully challenged incumbent Democratic Attorney General Dana Nessel in the 2022 election, has been charged with undue possession of a voting machine, willfully damaging a voting machine and conspiracy, according to the special prosecutor investigating the case.
DePerno, an attorney, had been endorsed in that 2022 contest by Trump, and he rose to prominence after pushing Trump’s baseless claims about the 2020 election in Michigan court.
From here
Nessel’s office named nine individuals who had been involved in a scheme to convince local clerks in three counties to hand over tabulators, take the tabulators to rental properties in Oakland County, break into the machines and perform “tests” on the equipment.:
Appointed, current crop’s appointment expires next year. I know one ex-commissioner, he finally retired last election; the insanity of the post-Trump era got to him, and more temperate voices were just being drowned out.
As far as changes with voting go… Maybe things will change around here someday, but basically, as long as you have an “R” after your name on the ballot, it’s going to be whoever is loudest/known to the most people (for good or ill) that gets the vote around here. That’s the way it has been for the 23 years I’ve lived in this town. The new crop of would-be politicians are all frothing lunatics, but better to vote for an insane Republican than to even entertain the idea of voting Democrat…
The best thing I can say about this area is there just aren’t that many people here, at least. (My county is larger in area than Rhode Island and Delaware combined, but has fewer than 50,000 residents).

It’s like I posted elsewhere: “Putting you in a camp is the last thing I want to do! … but it is on the list.”

How bad do you think it could get? I mean, if the R candidate is recently released from a mental institution, and goes around town with a tin foil hat and a toy ray-gun “neutralizing the evil” while screaming obscenities at the top of his lungs; While the D candidate is a normal person with long ties and roots in the community…
Would THIS scenario mean the D has a chance? How nuts does the R candidate have to be to lose?

I predict the sale of tin foil and toy ray-guns would skyrocket.
Monday was a Big Day for the House Oversight Committee, as they privately interviewed Devon Archer, who used to be a business partner of Hunter Biden. They were certain to get the goods on the Biden family.
As it turned out, this unsurprisingly turned out to be a whole lot of nothing. But that didn’t stop the Pubbies from trumpeting that it was a bombshell day. James Comer, who chairs the committee and has been very vocal about the whistleblowers, made the rounds on Fox and Newsmax that night, saying how ‘the walls are closing in on the Bidens.’
One problem, however, is that Comer wasn’t actually at the interview, nor did he participate remotely. In fact, Jim Jordan and Andy Biggs were the only Republicans present. It being recess and all, you know.
Link (hopefully not paywalled)
Blatant lying is all they have left now.
They’ll just repeat the lies over and over and over and over, so that 50% of the voters will believe them.

How nuts does the R candidate have to be to lose?
The entire nation is on a runaway train waiting for the answer, which I fear we won’t discover in 2024.
