A gay doctor is leaving a southern state because of its anti-LGBTQ legislation:
He’s a pediatric heart surgeon, apparently one of only three in Louisiana. This is interesting because of all the blather from wacko conservatives about how they want to protect children. Unfortunately, that seems to come in the form of targeting those who are trans or gay, or banning books from schools and libraries.
Yet here they have motivated someone to leave whose absence might ACTUALLY harm children. And I imply no responsibility for this on the doctor - I think he’s quite right to head elsewhere.
If these assholes really cared about children they would push for universal free school lunch and access to health care. Instead they focus their idiocy on LGBTQ people and it’s quite possible Louisiana will suffer for it.

Just describe his job in unflattering terms, and it pretty much writes itself.

I just have to say, if I was a kid and some doc fixed something in my heart making me feel loads better, I’d be mighty fond of him or her.
I read a memoir some years ago by a pediatric heart surgeon and he said by far, his favorite procedure was an atrial septal defect repair because the results were so dramatic. A kid goes in listless, gasping, possibly edema from the chest on down, and wakes up much pinker, full of life and, despite the stitched-up incisions, downright chipper.
But, after their encounters with him, the children are often scarred for life.
So that woke doctor is choosing to put divisive politics over the health and well-being of his patients? /s
