NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

“But I will not act to un-stand it.”

Gotta love 'em.

Seth Meyers just did a particularly angry monologue about this:

We should lean into that. Start calling the Confederate Battle Flag the “Democrat” flag.

My read on the situation is that the best of the bad options available to the GOP is to loudly repudiate their anti-abortion position, complete with “Sister Souljah moments” of telling the most vocal representatives of the antiabortion faction that their opinions are irrelevant because they’re gonna have to suck it up and vote Republican anyway to keep the Democrats out of power. Something that dramatic might fool (c’mon, you didn’t think I was suggesting they they would be sincere, surely?) enough of the suburban voters they’re losing while still holding on to a majority of the Talibornagainst (who do, in fact, have no option other than voting Republican unless they want to let the Democrats run things unobstructed).

That won’t happen, of course, because nobody who still has influence in the GOP has enough of a notochord or enough of a neural cluster at the front end of it to conceive or execute such a strategy.

Isn’t that how we got to where we are now, but with the details reversed? Republicans have promised for decades to eliminate abortion, to get the anti-abortion vote, but didn’t do much about it. Those voters just got more and more angry. Trump finally catered to them, but anger is the only political motivation they know, so they’re sticking with it.

A strategy like you suggest is only going to piss off a new group, making things, eventually, worse not better. Although, politicians aren’t know for their long-term thinking. Whatever they have to promise to get voters this year is fine; by the time they’re frothingly angry the politicians will have to think of something new to promise them.

Clearly, everyone around Trump is a class act.

I’m pretty sure he’s explicitly saying that it’s “everybody else” who are responsible for fixing it, which really is in character for Trump. All successes are his alone, all failures are someone else’s; “I take no responsibility!”

Only The Best People[tm]!

The response from the “Jeremy Rosenberg” who got the subpoena:

“I don’t have any files for you,” the apparently bemused Brooklynite wrote back, according to a filing from the former president’s legal team.
He added: “PS - The phone number you provided was disconnected.
“PPS - I’m keeping the fifteen dollars,” he added, referencing the money Mr Trump’s lawyers had sent him to help pay for sending the documents.

Clearly, he has learned the most important Trump Lesson.

Oh, sure, they “stupidly” sent a subpoena to the wrong person… which now will lead them to ask for more time to get it right.

(Y’know this is turning into something out of Marvel Comics where the plot takes place across a dozen separate thread titles.)

It also evokes clickbait “articles” that never actually include the headline’s contents.

Well, they all look alike don’t they? And their names all sound alike, too.

A.M.W. is right. (Not for the faint of eye.) MAGA–hell, at this point, the entire Republican party is a toxic religion.

“Not for the faint of eye” is an understatement.

Quintessential New Yorker :grinning:

Do they think that depicting Trump in a diaper makes him look strong?

Life Lesson: Never insult someone else’s mental acuity in a way that makes you look like an idiot:

Newsmax went light on the research on Thursday, airing a segment accusing President Joe Biden of forgetting that Africa was a country while apparently believing that Africa is a country.

He said that Biden didn’t know that Africa was a country, he couldn’t remember the year his son died, he didn’t know the last names of staff members, he forgot when he was vice president, all very embarrassing stuff,” said Newsmax host Rob Finnerty, throwing a question to Representative James Comer about special counsel Robert Hur’s report on the president’s mental acuity…

Stop making us not waste energy/water!

Why does God need two holsters?

How dare we re-elect someone to be the president when they had the nerve to say “nation”, when they clearly meant to say “nations”, a decade ago?

They’re really reaching at this point.

I used to remind people that even if global warming is, in fact, a crock of shit and entirely fabricated as a soapbox for the left to use to push their agenda, you have to keep in mind that the right is still saying “I’d prefer if you spend the rest of your life breathing pollution so my friends can make more money”. They’re not even hiding it anymore.
