NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

I’ve seen others use it, but it’s a verbification we’ll need more in the coming future.

Given the extent to which Republicans rely on teh h8, they are perfectly understandable. A Log Cabin Republican must be deeply into self-loathing – in fact, so many Republicans seem to exhibit such a tendency toward homosexual activities that I get the distinct feeling that hating oneself is merely the first step on the road to hating everyone. And, with so much h8 floating around, it comes as no surprise that they struggle to collaborate on much of anything.

Gonna disagree here. Yes, there is a substantial part of the Republican Party - the Evangelical wing - that wants them DEAD. Many of the politicians will mouth similar rhetoric, but only because they want the votes. The rest of the party doesn’t care. If same-sex marriage isn’t an issue to you, and you are for tax cuts for corporations and the rich, then you can be a gay Republican.

If the rest of the party doesn’t care, then they still won’t care when the part that does care starts setting up gas chambers.

You don’t need 100% of the party to massacre people. You just need them to sit on their asses.

I’m with @Dr.Winston_OBoogie here.

Hatred of Jews was a lot more central to Nazi ideology than hatred of gays is to Republicans. Heck, the 2016 Republican Party Platform doesn’t even include the words “homosexual” or “gay”, instead talking about “defending marriage” and “traditional marriage.” Hitler used no similar circumlocutions about Jews in Mein Kampf. A party that’s not on the front foot on this isn’t going to be giving control over persecution of homosexuals to its most radical wing anytime soon.

What’s more, you see a similar effect as with the abortion issue - when there’s effectively nothing that can be done about the issue politically, there’s no political cost to offering mutual support to those who are extreme about the issue. As long as Obergefell remains the law of the land, nobody has to worry about their support of Republicans meaning the end of gay marriage. If that changes, or if Republicans start going even farther, then conflicted Republican’s would face a choice.

Now, things change rapidly in politics - and those factions that seemed out of power can suddenly gain a great deal of power, the Supreme Court can change its mind, and the like. I think it’s pretty short-sighted of the LRCs to remain in a coalition with folks who, if they had their way, would outlaw them or worse. But for the moment, like D.W_OB said,

Some of them have a lot of money…

Huh? A whole lot of Republican women thought that Roe v Wade was the law of the land… right up until the instant that it wasn’t…

Log cabin Republican: “That one doesn’t seem to hate me as much. That seems like a solid basis for a political alliance!”

Never mind, temporarily fell for satire again

Transphobes: All biological males are inherently and irredeemably sexual deviants who must never be left alone with a woman other than their wife and who will take advantage of any possibility to get into women’s spaces so they can do perversions to them

Also transphobes: Ladies, don’t forget to always take your husband into the public bathroom with you!

Channeling Mike Pence, are you? :face_with_monocle:

The book of Leviticus clearly states that channeling of spirits is an abomination, my brother in Christ.

Especially Wild Turkey.

Take a look at the title of this thread and tell me they’d prefer to go first. Like your fire and brimstone Christians they want to stick around and see the Others get theirs, so they want to be last.

Cthulhu ain’t the deli counter, he devours in whatever order he wishes. He’s kind of a dick.

Never loan him any money, either.

Fucker still owes me $3.50.

He’s not eating me. I’ve got narwhals!

Megyn Kelly (remember her?) says that only stupid and ugly people go to protests.
