NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

Looks like most SD’ers missed this reference. To be fair, it was a long time ago.

Why the hell haven’t I heard of her!?

My guess it that Trump is a typical republican and just needs something to rant about.

It would not surprise me at all if the man really did not have a thorough grasp of Project 2025 beyond his staff giving him five bullet points in large letters that say “TRUMP will Put People In Their Place”, “TRUMP will win the Culture War”, etc. and no extended details of how, and he doesn’t care, because we know that’s how he rolls.

And we know he always reacts in the way that he expects to either get him applause or shut down the question. No pause for thinking it over.

In his next rally he’ll say it’s all his idea. Because that’s how he rolls.

Of course not. The thing is about 900 pages long. I’m not sure if Trump has ever read that many pages in his entire life. Maybe he’s flipped through that many looking for his name.

Yeah, I was wondering if that meme had finally died.

Mike Lee, Elon Musk, and Dinesh D’Souza among others all fell for a 100% fabricated Twitter hoax that Biden was “having a medical emergency on Air Force One” yesterday afternoon, which was debunked less than an hour later when he got off the plane in perfect health.

This is the “Swift-boating” of Biden. The Deep State wasn’t damning enough. Now we have a full blown scandal (dementia) that the Trumpists are fanning with the media following along like hungry dogs. Totally wiped Don the Felon off the headlines. Pushed his wild rantings deep into the back pages. Biden now has to defend instead of tout things like the economy, progress on the infrastructure, student loans, and push for judicial referms.

Exactly.

WA Republicans’ latest defense of the free market - force utility companies to sell natural gas whether they want to or not.

Heywood said he believes “people are tired of being gaslit

Well, then, that’s a good reason to get out of the gas business.

Alas, can’t read without subscribing. Would you give us a summary?

The state passed a law that represented the first steps towards eventually constructing a framework that would allow utility companies the option of eventually transitioning away from providing natural gas.

Republicans found this a horrible affront to their liberty, and demand that utility companies be required forever more and always to provide natural gas, and they have a measure on the ballot to that effect.

Thanks.

Usually they let you get a few free articles per week before the paywall kicks in. Maybe it’s spread across all McClatchy papers.

Chronos’ summary is accurate. This is being spearheaded by a Republican millionaire who seems to want to take over where Tim Eyman is now legally prohibited from carrying on, making a living off of getting pseudo-libertarian culture war issues on the ballot, and is previously responsible for an anti-trans “parents bill of rights” that is now being challenged in court.

Somebody somewhere changed something from the way it used to be. Conservatives lost their shit. News at 11:00.

At least Eyman could be creative at times: this bunch has all the finesse of a sledgehammer. When they have a table, the sign on it is usually along the lines of “STOP THE GAS BAN!!!” Which I initially thought was a response to Inslee’s initiative to move the state fleet — and ultimately new car sales — to EVs. While massively overblown, that would at least have been a response to something that kindasorta exists in the real world; this is a response to something that has been created out of whole cloth by a cynical manipulator. Or someone who’s been smoking some reeeeeal good shit.

For people who dislike “demonic” fantasy stuff, they really enjoy turning windmills into giants and molehills into mountains.

I first heard of her when the movie based on Out of Africa came out. She (Beryl Markham) had a spurt of renewed popularity for a while. That’s when I read West with the Night.

I absolutely believe that Trump has either not heard of Project 2025, or if he has, he’s forgotten about it. He’s never had any interest in the details of policy. And the notion that some of the people who are supporting him might have an agenda of their own beyond “Donald Trump is great” is something he cannot even conceive of.
