NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

On April 4th, 1984.

NC candidate for school superintendent wants to put cameras in bathrooms to make sure the kids don’t have guns.

On the other hand, when Davy Crockett lost his re-election bid to Congress he said, “You may all go to hell and I will go to Texas.” (considering what happened later, maybe hell would’ve been a better choice :smirk:)

Fair to middling chance he got to do both

Republican Senate candidate: Unlike my opponent I’m not afraid to answer tough questions anywhere anytime

Reporter: Where do you stand on banning abortion

Candidate: I’m not going to answer that

To be fair, he didn’t say that he’d take all tough questions, or which ones he’d take… :stuck_out_tongue:

Before Wahl ascended to lead the state GOP party, he worked as a butterfly farmer in Limestone County.

A man who is entirely at home with his worms.

No, he never promised to answer the tough questions.

It may or may not be a comfort to note that as awful as many humans may be right now, just as many awful people threatened their fellow-humans in eras past.

Of course they didn’t have a clubhouse such as FoxNews in which to glory in their awfulness. So I guess that is one difference.

The Heritage Foundation is staging “war games” in which Biden attempts to cancel the election by having Hamas kidnap Barbra Streisand.

Again? But that trick never works!

DeSantis signs law that bans local municipalities from requiring heat breaks

DeSantis signs law that bans local municipalities from requiring heat breaks.

And again we see that the cruelty is the point. Because there’s absolutely no other point in trying to kneecap measures meant to keep workers from dying of heatstroke.

And yet they’ll still get votes from the people they’re trying to kill.

The first thing that came to my mind was “The Ransom Of Red Chief”.

Who says Florida Republicans don’t care about children? They’re always willing to sit down and talk to kids about what’s best for them!

I like the part where the board members say they can’t be deposed yet they’re willing to pull a kid in front of them to grill him.

Since DeSantis already outlawed climate change, any worker who “dies” from heatstroke must be a crisis actor and deserves no sympathy.

Once again DeSantis is a day late and an Inquisition short - Texas passed this law last year.

I think in this case the cruelty is actually just a bonus. The point is to show the Democratic bleeding hearts in the cities that the True Americans in the rural areas will dictate the rules. After all, if we don’t need a law in order for Billy Mac to get a break when he’s helping Wilmer with his barn raising, why does there need to be a law for the anonymous crew putting up the office building for Stock Price Is Everything, Inc.? Basically it’s a fuck you after the political and legal battles over the covid rules.

[channelling DeSantis] Hey, look at the bright side! It’s mostly all those brown invaders doing that work in the blazing sun. So what if they keel over? Drag the bodies away and shuffle in some more brown invaders, get the labor out of them, repeat, repeat – cheap labor and a bonus, getting the brown invader numbers down! [/channelling]

I wish I didn’t suspect there was an element of this kind of calculation involved.
