Exactly the same. Penzey is pissing off half his customers.
But, since I agree with his politics, i spend more there, to make up for it. Works both ways.
The right likes to think they can get away with their hate while decrying the “hate” from the left. But Bill Penzey isn’t saying republicans should be sent to concentration camps, deported or outright killed.
By contrast, take a look at the reaction video from the Demolition Ranch YouTube channel (in the news because the shooter was wearing a T-shirt from their merch store). The creator of the channel very clearly and definitely denounces political violence, while also saying that he won’t make politics part of his channel, and continuing to not make it part. That’s the way to do it.
Now that I (sort of) own a record store, I can contemplate doing something like posting a sign telling Trump supporters they’re not welcome. I’d secretly love to do so, but I suspect it would be a bad idea because:
I’d lose a significant number of potential customers
I’d risk some MAGAt coming back with an AR-15, because they’re batshit crazy
I’d probably piss off some centrist and left-leaning folks, too
I’m just not brave enough to risk 1-3 for the satisfaction of pwning the Pubes (and maybe getting some free publicity by stirring the pot)
I remember, but can’t find proof, of a McDonald’s(?) that had a “no liberals allowed” sort of sign. I think it was in Arizona.
Anyway, I understand your sentiment. I wanted to drive up there and throw a rock through their window. But I didn’t, because I’m not like a RWNJ. instead, I just didn’t eat there. Now, I don’t have the personal satisfaction of the owner knowing why, but I can live with that.
I turned on my TV this evening, and before I could change the channel I caught a little bit of the RNC. The head of the WWF (I think) was saying that he knows tough guys, and Donald Trump is the toughest.
Seriously, that’s what our politics have come to, someone who hires people to pretend to beat each other up is telling us who to vote for?
