NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

Pretty rich coming from the guy who said Republicans should speak about Democrats from a list of “negative connotation” words.

Sucks when the message discipline shoe is on the other foot, huh, Newt?

Gingrich: If you just watch her… it’s the same stuff over and over… the things she’s memorized

Newt? I know you don’t care but, it’s really rude to misgender Donald Trump that way.

Hey, here’s a fun idea. Let’s accuse an Arab-American witness of supporting Hamas and even after she says she doesn’t, tell her she can’t say she doesn’t. (The link goes to Yahoo.)

I have to say Ms. Berry’s responses were great.

Personal anecdote: back in July we had a dumpster in our driveway for clearing junk out of our basement. I was busting up some old furniture downstairs so I could take it out in pieces, and managed to whack my earlobe with a pry bar, nearly tearing a hole all the way through. I wound up in the local urgent care to see if I was going to need stitches (I didn’t). Two weeks later you couldn’t tell by looking at it that anything had ever happened. So yeah not to defend Trump or anything, but a superficial wound to the ear isn’t going to leave a visible lasting scar, even if you’re bleeding like a stuck pig when it happens.

Yep. Ears are incredibly vascular so they bleed spectacularly for a short amount of time, and they heal very quickly.

Lucky for them that there are no pictures of Trump in such scenario.

Gotta admit that’s not the style of his party’s chosen Presidential candidate.

At all.

His ego is fine with being in a class with two of the most revered (rightly or wrongly) Presidents in our history: Lincoln and Kennedy. (He clearly wouldn’t recognize the names “Garfield” or “McKinley” so they are irrelevant here.)

I’m not going to lay out the theories of how these two incidents could have been engineered by Trump’s handlers. This isn’t the place.

But the idea that Trump’s ego is the thing that would have prevented him from wanting to look like a historic-level Giant of Patriotism for ‘taking a bullet’ (or ‘being willing to take a bullet’ or what have you), is just wrong. Of course he’d be eager to be put in that pantheon of Heroism, so long as he was confident that he wouldn’t actually get hurt.

This is Daily Kos, quoting RawStory

Except he thinks that taking a bullet for your country makes you a “sucker” and a “loser”.

And the Medal of Freedom is better than the Medal of Honor because you can give it to hot chicks instead of people who’ve been shot at and are all wounded and gross.

I saw a clip where Trump was asked to condemn the bomb threats to schools and wouldn’t do it. So Vance wants an apology for events that his boss doesn’t think are bad.

ETA: Just to be clear, the quote is not CalMeacham’s own words, but from an embedded quote within his post.

Wow. “It’s all Harris’s fault that Trump is a wanna be tyrant and Americans don’t want that.”

I find it confusing that the Second Amendment party is adamant that we shouldn’t tell the truth about Trump’s agenda so he won’t be shot. Isn’t the point of the Second Amendment for those folks to oppose tyrants?

I find it confusing that the party that claims to value personal responsibility wants to blame Harris for (a) Trump’s plans and (b) the actions of individual people who aren’t Harris.

I find it par for the course that FOX bloviators find some way to make it the liberals’ fault.

Of course it’s a joke. He’s not stopping with just the first day.

Seriously, that specific comment was a joke, but he also intends to take actions to increase his personal power and reduce the liberty of most Americans. He likes strongmen and admires dictators because they have so much power are so loved by their people. He wants to be the biggest winner.

There is? Is that about his death, or about how many rich and famous friends used his services to rape girls?

Gingrich: If you just watch her… it’s the same stuff over and over… the things she’s memorized

He does have a somewhat viable point. She repeats her talking points a lot, nearly verbatim. That makes her come off a bit stilted. Adept speakers can find ways to say the same things differently. Not that I think it makes her insincere or unqualified to be President. I don’t claim to have any great skill as a public speaker, either, and would be abysmal as a politician because I don’t do impromptu well. And can’t remember names to save my life.

Thank you for the yahoo article. The X post wasn’t given any context. That article explains the meeting was a Senate Judiciary Committee meeting to discuss antisemetism, anti-Arab, and anti-Muslim hate. So of course one is the committee members had to demonstrate such.

What’s equally depressing is Chaiman Dick Durbin’s tepid response within the committee hearing. He did show her the opportunity to respond to anything she wanted to. But his only comments about the issue were

“I regret some of the things that were said today at this hearing,” the Illinois senator said. “But we are a free nation, and that’s what happens in a democracy.”

Um, right. You are heading a committee too discuss anti-Muslim hate and allow one of the committee members to verbally harass with anti-Muslim hate a witness brought in to provide testimony about the topic. And all you can muster is “that’s what happens in a democracy”?

With regards to Senator Kennedy, he seemed to want to make a point that Ms. Berry supports the UN’s Relief and Works Aid (UNRWA) to Palestine. And there was an incident where a few workers in that organization were accused of supporting Hamas’s attack on Israel. So that is the link for his assertion that she supports Hamas. He is painting with a broad brush that the UN’s aid program to Palestine is corrupt despite the organization going to lengths to maintain neutrality and prevent support to terrorists while helping the Palestinian people.

Outside of Congress, Durbin’s spokesperson was much more unequivocal.

From the article:
Asked why nobody pushed back on Kennedy’s line of questioning, a Durbin spokesperson said Wednesday that the GOP senator’s comments were way out of line.

“The vile and horrific remarks made by Sen. Kennedy yesterday were completely unacceptable and have no place in our dialogue, let alone a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing,” Durbin’s spokesperson said in a statement.

“Political leaders must not fan the flames of hatred and division, and Senator Kennedy failed to meet this responsibility yesterday,” said the spokesperson. “Chair Durbin was deeply offended by how Ms. Berry was treated and made a point of speaking to her once the hearing concluded to thank her for her participation and her insights on the need to fight hate in all of its forms.”

Gee, if only he had been that forceful during the hearing. Apparently those vile remarks do have a place since Durbin let them stand without challenge.

It’s on the very next page in their playbook after “It’s just a fact of life” when responding to questions about school shootings.

If I understand JD Vance correctly, it’s unfair of the liberal media to blame him for the bomb threats, and they should quit making things up. (Even though in reality they’re not making anything up.)

And also, it’s okay if he makes things up in order to get immigration front and center.

I also don’t really understand why they want to make immigration a big issue. It just seems like the perfect opportunity to point out once again that it was Trump who killed the bipartisan immigration bill.

It’s okay if he makes up stories about immigrants eating pets because it gets the media to focus on how much people in Springfield are suffering. And people in Springfield are suffering because immigrants are eating their pets! It’s irrefutable.

I suggest that JD Vance go sit quietly in a corner while he waits.

He should also hold his breath, while waiting.

I’ve got a plastic bag from my dry cleaner he can use, if he wants…

Would that be the Mainway Toys invisible ghost costume that’s new for this Halloween?
