That seems quite cheap for a Taylor-Swift-signed guitar. A good accoustic guitar can go for $1,000 unsigned. I wonder if this was one she had actually played (in which case quality would matter), or just something she bought to sign and then sell.
The article doesn’t actually say if the buyer was motivated by politics and Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris.
We don’t even know that it was her’s. Most likely it belonged to a fan of her’s who got her to sign it. (make it out to Ebay).
The only person hurt by his actions is whoever was the next highest bidder, who presumably would have wanted the guitar. So if he’s spending $4,000 to ruin their day. Classy. On the good side some local students studying agriculture may have gotten a little extra money in their scholarships thanks to his bid.
He might actually be able to sell that guitar for more than he paid now, because he has made it slightly more famous.

I just watched the video. From the fact that the the man presenting the guitar is holding the hammer and gives it to the winner, and the reaction of the crowd, I doubt there was any actual fan there wanting the guitar. I can’t tell from the quality of the image much about the guitar other than it is an acoustic with some pink coloring.
Also, the article says it was donated by a third party, so not by Taylor Swift.
Sounds like this was a political stunt that the bulk of the crowd enjoyed, and that it wasn’t an actual Swift guitar but just some guitar someone got autographed.

I had not seen the video until just now. The MC handed him the hammer first. A freaking claw hammer (I had gotten the impression that it was a sledgehammer), and the guy just pecks at the guitar. Yeah, it was stupid, but also pathetic. Some really weak tea. MAGAts seem to be very adept at pathetic stupid, not so much dramatic or impressive stupid.
