One of the school board members was late quoted as saying to the pastor;
“Yeah, well, that’s just, like, your opinion, man.”
totally made up, dude.

Kandiss Taylor (remember her?) is jumping on the “Democrats control the weather” bandwagon.
Oh and just in case anyone was, like me curious about what vile pornography so traumatized Sophomore Lorina Benson that we must remember her name and bring her justice.
it was from “Tomorrow Too far” by Nigerian writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi
Which contains the following passage. (Spoilered lest any other young minds be similarly traumatized and corrupted. Click at your own risk. You have been warned. )
It was not the summer you fell in love with your cousin
Dozie because that happened a few summers before, when
you both wiggled into the tiny space behind Grandmama’s
garage and he tried to put what you both called his banana
into what you both called your tomato but neither of you
was sure which was the right hole
I’m sure she will have nightmares for years to come from reading that passage.
They don’t give a shit about those two which nullify each other. They are more concerned about the ones right below that are in the way of Making America Great Again. Again.
That was me, but yeah, you are correct on that observation.
Awww…that’s kind of sweet…
Has any of those loons (apologies to the bird species) actually come out and said “they” control the weather with space lasers?
The pastor mentioned “My Princess Boy” twice. He must really have liked that one.
While Joe Biden is pretty much an incapacitated senior that doesn’t know up from down, he’s also controlling the elections and the weather.
Donald is just an incapacitated senior that doesn’t know up from down, but he can fill his adult Pampers.
Just that they cause wildfires.
(That was the actual claim, in case people forgot.)
Countdown to the “book-banning pastor” being outed as either a child molester or as being obsessed with trans porn, or both…
Wow, that’s kind of tame. I haven’t read the story myself, but it’s my understanding that the author is unloading some trauma there. I wonder what this guy would think about the poems by Adrienne Rich that I found in the compilation books we were handed in junior high literature classes (in a North Carolina public school!).
Or maybe he likes feet? I glanced at the Wiki page to familiarize myself with the book (wow, 2009???), and saw that it was featured in a scholarly paper called “Pedi-Files: Reading the Foot in Contemporary Illustrated Children’s Literature.” (Apparently the princess boy character likes to stand on tiptoe.)
Every time I read something like this in the news, I think of Dan Savage’s “Youth Pastor Watch.” That quoted passage, despite its subject matter, was conveying a lot of childhood innocence, and it makes me suspicious of anyone who claims it was meant to arouse people.
I was in an advanced English class in high school in the late '90s, and the classroom had its own private library for the exclusive use of that teacher’s students. It was an eclectic mix of old paperbacks including a sizable collection of '60s and '70s sci-fi. When I was 15 I found myself perusing the shelves looking for something interesting to take home and read, and I found an old beaten-up copy of Dhalgren by Samuel Delaney.
Fox News would’ve had an absolute field day with that teacher if social media had existed back then.
Reddit post quoting a Facebook post by the politician in question. Obviously, he extended sincere apologies and promised to re-examine his racist beliefs.
…Or maybe not.
Yeah, he’s raging about transgender children and mental disease, and against DEI.
He performs an act of “civil disobedience” by staying at the podium beyond his allotted speaking time, so he is arrested for it. Then he whines that he was arrested. Except that’s part of civil disobedience - take the punishment to demonstrate the injustice.
I looked it up - it’s online.
The story is about a young woman and the incident in her childhood. She and her brother spent summers in Nigeria with her grandmother. Her trauma relates to how everyone dismissed her as a girl but praised and spoiled her brother for being a boy. The part about her cousin is relevant because it explains his motives for his participation and silence about the incident where
the girl tricks her brother, in an effort to maim our otherwise mar his perfection, into climbing a tree and then scares him by yelling about a venomous snake being near him so that he falls, which kills him. She then tells her mother it was the grandmother’s fault, the grandmother is the one who did those actions.
The sex part is really tame, especially compared to the tone and intensity of the rest of the story.
Wow. That’s practically Biblical. The pubbies should love it and be pushing it to be in every classroom for every subject.
I thought Trump controlled the weather. With a Sharpie.
Or about the Bible, if he were to ever actually read it.
It’s not really stupid as much as “weird and she needs help” but calling Trump a “woman president” is just……I don’t know.
Ron DeFuhrer is threatening to prosecute TV stations that run pro-choice campaign ads.
Just saw my first Republican TV ad while watching the Mets game. What a pathetic piece of drivel! I could pick 5 random students from my high school and they would be able to both pick the ad to pieces and write and video a much more effective ad, no matter what their personal politics. The whole party is too old to be allowed to control anything, right down to their bedtimes and pill schedule.
