NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 3)

Which is just a word in the dictionary to them.

No, they don’t. When do they ever seek forgiveness any more?

Doubt they could find it. EVEN if they did have a dicktonery.

No. “ Further Resolved, That, the State of West Virginia will not recognize an election of a candidate for President during the 2024 election cycle if the Attorney General of West Virginia or the Secretary of State of West Virginia, in consultation with the West Virginia Legislature, determine that election fraud in any state was a major reason that resulted in a candidate for President obtaining a majority in the Electoral College.” (bolding mine)

Mind you, I think the practical effect is that WV is threatening to not cast their electors for Trump in the event that Harris wins the Electoral College… which just reduces the threshold she needs to meet.

…Which I’m 99% sure is an empty threat. But you’re right, it would be a threat to the Republicans if anything.

It’s rather fascinating.

“Do what we say with the election or we’re leaving and taking our marbles with us” is how West Virginia became a separate state in the first place.

It didn’t end very well for the ones making the threat, but I’ll give them credit for going through with it. By contrast, this current crowd doesn’t seem to have the courage of their convictions.

Well, I’m sure they’ll all do their own research.

My WAG is that this is a test case to see if a state can get away with refusing to cast its electoral votes. No state has done so since the Civil War, and IMO it would be unconstitutional, and the 14th amendment establishes a penalty for it;

In theory, by refusing to cast its votes, a state would be disfranchising the entire population and would be subject to losing all but one of its representatives and three of its electoral votes. Their hope is that the Supreme Court will essentially render this clause unenforceable like they did to the Insurrection Clause, thereby opening the door for any state with a Republican legislature to refuse to accept a Democratic victory. And if they’re wrong, WV only has two Congressmen in the first place, so no big loss.

Trump tells Ben Shapiro that he doesn’t know who’s next in succession after the vice president.

Harris went on a popular podcast “Call Her Daddy” that is aimed at women and deals with a variety of issues, but some are more sexual. She was taking to the host about the Republican abortion bans, and reproductive health. The host mentioned that some viewers goo up to men and ask them what they know about tampons. But it’s relevance is the cluelessness of men regarding women’s reproductive health issues.

Then Senator Kennedy tries to make some remark about how Harris is doing some podcast he doesn’t understand while people in W Virginia are suffering from storm damage. He tries to minimize Harris and her activities by mocking the podcast name, referring to it as “Who’s Your Daddy?” And then says his remark about tampons.

So Harris is doing a campaign outreach stop on a podcast championing women’s issues that happens to have a name intended to flip the whole minimization of women. She is discussing access to not only abortions but the closing of clinics that provide pap smears, HIV testing, and a host of other health issues.

Then Senator Blowhard

  1. mocks the podcast name by minimizing women in a sexual way; and
  2. displays that he doesn’t understand women’s biology.

Remember, this was a campaign stop to show how Harris has a unique perspective on women’s issues for a president or vice president. The audience was women, especially ones who are tuned in to women’s health issues and alert to misogyny.

I’m sure that he’s forced women to have abortions.

But paying for them? That’s just crazy talk.

You’ve got a point. His daddy probably paid for the ones that Donnie’s high school girlfriends had. Maybe a few in college. But after that, you’re right. :woman_facepalming:t4:

“Of course I’ll pay, why wouldn’t I pay, there’s nothing I want more in the world than to pay for this. I’ll gladly pay you on Tuesday for your abortion today”.

In related news, Melania said Trump first hit on her while he was on a date with someone else. He asked for her phone number while his date stepped away for something.

Based on everything I’ve been hearing from her lately, I assume this was meant to be more charming and less sleazy than it seems to have come off. I don’t know what the context for it was, but even if something like that isn’t entirely unheard of (especially if she wasn’t someone he was dating, but just a date for an event) , it seems like the something Trump would rather keep a lid on. I mean, it’s not really a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but it’s also just more ammo for the left.

Come to think of it, do we know why she chose to release a book now, just before the election? I’m not going to read it, but the snippets I’ve run across seem to be a combination of pushing some of his lies, but also showing she’s not entirely on his side, at least not WRT abortion. Remember, if she’s not militantly anti-abortion, she’s too far left for MAGA.

Because after the election nobody is going to care what she has to say about anything ever again.

Like I said, what she said had nothing to do with what he was on about (storm damage) .

And because trump’s net worth, therefore Melania’s pre-nup, will be much, much less if he loses the election. The hope is this book will help his popularity by normalizing him.

She’s really a piece of shit work.

I don’t really care. Do U?

When I was a child, map companies had a nifty trick for protecting their copyright: they’d put a fake alley somewhere on the map. Today’s Republican party does that with dictionaries. They put words in there which have absolutely no meaning for them. Examples: constitution, democracy, Beatitudes, rights.

Didn’t their idol specificially state he has never asked for forgiveness?

Which is also fascinating since they’re really racking up convictions of late.

Reminds me a bit of The Heartbreak Kid. (The link goes to Wikipedia.)

inasmuch as the possibility exists that she might be able to convince people to support her disgusting husband and wangle him back into the WH, that is the extent to which one should care

Infidelity (male and female) has long been grounds for divorce, and pregnant mistress is fairly damning proof, so axing no fault divorce isn’t going to help that problem. Plus, he would also be on the hook for child support which is for many right wing men a much more unfair thing.

I guess that makes sense. I was trying to consider it WRT Trump’s campaign. To be honest, I just assumed they had a hand, if not full control, over it’s release.
