So… Beware of Geeks wearing jewelry that says ‘Tiffs’…?
Gotcha.

Mary Trump at least seems okay.
If he wins, he’ll say the economy is the greatest in the world and inflation not a problem and his fans will just say “yes, he fixed it immediately like he said he would”. They can spin anything he says.
Or your mom when she’s annoyed with you.
That was my first thought, too.
Huh? IIRC, Hinkley’s father was in the Texas oil business and I’m sure he knew the Bush family but I’ve never heard they were related. I’m actually distantly related to the Bush family; something like 8th or 9th cousins with W.
you are just trying to make me run away screaming
Surprise! Surprise! Surprise! Anti-Walz attack is fake upon fake. (The link goes to Yahoo.)
Matthew Metro didn’t recognize the face that popped up on his cellphone screen when he clicked a link that a friend texted him last week. But after hitting play on the online video, he was dismayed by what he saw.
“My name is Matthew Metro,” said the man in the video, who went on to describe life as a student decades ago at a high school in Minnesota where Democratic vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz was a teacher. Some of the details - including about being at the school when Walz worked there - matched the biography of the real Metro. But the man in the video went further, leveling fabricated allegations against Walz, who the real Metro said he never met.
Scary part is that this is exactly what his voters are thinking about his more dangerous antidemocratic proposals. “He’s just saying whatever it takes to win” – and yes, paradoxically, they don’t mind that he’s just saying whatever it takes to win. They did and will not hold it against him that he did not deliver on promises of preserving jobs or lowering prices or whatever. When the other side does it they are lying. When HE does it he’s just the consummate hard-sell Always Be Closing guy.

I was listening to a Trump representative on the BBC this morning handwaving away all of his recent craziness - the dancing, the discussion of Palmer’s penis, etc - as just “Trump being Trump”.
Which I suppose is true - it is Trump being Trump. That’s entirely the problem.

Actually, the scary part is they suddenly believe what he says.
Ah, yes, using the full middle name, just like for serial killers.
Or for Kenyan Muslims pretending to be native-born Americans.
LegalEagle just released a video that I think is well worth watching. It’s a good recap of all the shit Trump has done in the last 8ish years and the things that are important to remember going into the election. Trump has shoveled such an incredible amount of bullshit our way, it good to focus on the bigger things that can get lost in the shuffle.

That’s a story I’d heard reported in the news at the time; this is a link to an article showing a connection.
I’m sorry. Please don’t shoot the messenger.
This is horrifying. I hope whoever is responsible is publicly shamed, and sued into oblivion.
Thanks for the link. I’m also descended from John Gallop and Hannah Lake, the ancestors in common between the Bush and Hinkley families.
There’s a family website listing famous Gallop descendants but, for some reason, they don’t feature Hinkley. Interesting to learn.
Such a polite young Republican. He even knows the law about what he steals! Fine future GOP leader.
Looks like this kid fell for Trump’s line about “Kamala has legalized theft under $950” and didn’t realize that;
Trump, of course, isn’t going to shed a single tear that someone else paid the consequences for believing his bullshit. Will the kid learn anything? Maybe, but my gut tells me he’ll come.out of this believing that if he were an “illegal” they’d have let him off the hook.
An illegal stealing Trump/Vance signs, of course. Why then, the whole thing would be ignored. /s
Great video, but I would have liked to have seen what happened when the police showed up. Oh well, there was enough schadenfreudy goodness in the few minutes we did get.
There’s a news article in the comments with more detail;
https://www.ozarksfirst.com/news/springfield-woman-uses-tracker-to-find-stolen-election-signs/
The woman who posted the video is filing a police report, but no charges have been made yet.
McCaskill said. “We don’t want to cause any harm to the young man or his family, but the attitude is bothersome and I hope that can be turned around for him.
Oh, wait - no, no, don’t accept that just because he’s a polite young man. If you don’t punish this behavior in a young adult they will continue to do it. He needs to suffer the consequences now, not later.
Yeah, file charges but be open to some plea deal of community service and probation.
I wonder if she has a cat? If so, I bet she loves J.D Vance. Do any Democrats “borrow” families this way?
