“The Biden-Harris Administration and the radical progressives in charge of BLM [Bureau of Labor Management] are attempting to lock up our public lands from critical uses like oil & gas exploration,” Boebert told Newsweek
Boebert also vowed to “fight this newest land grab just like I’ve done for every ridiculous attempt from the Biden-Harris Administration and BLM to damage our economy.”
Except…
the recovery plan for the threatened species was approved in 2020 — when Donald Trump was president.
Kilmeade: I can absolutely see him go it’d be great to have German generals that actually do what we ask them to do, maybe not fully being cognizant of the third rail of German generals who were Nazis or whatever
So, why is it, when ever they say they want generals who will do what they’re told, it’s always “Hitler’s generals”? Never Stalin’s generals, or Idi Amin’s generals, or Pol Pot’s generals. Why always Hitler?
I really don’t get the whole “Hitler’s generals” thing. Do they mean generals who will follow orders? When did any U.S. general ever refuse a direct legal order from Trump back when he was president? Or do they mean they want generals who’ll obey illegal orders?
I think they’re really annoyed by the generals pointing out that some orders, while maybe not actually illegal, are just bad ideas. They want generals who will faun over Trump’s every notion, years of experience be damned.
This. They want generals who are simultaneously aggressive hard charging warriors and afraid to do anything but agree with everything Trump says.
Mind boggling thought that is, considering how successfully that turned out for both the generals and for Hitler.
Ditto Trump’s personal idol Putin to some extent, considering how much even an ultimately ‘successful’ Ukraine war will cost Russia for decades to come, much less a stalemate or defeat.
All the talk of Trump wanting Hitler’s generals can’t help but remind me of the “Angry Hitler” meme that came out of the clip from the movie Downfall. I wager that most people who made memes from that clip have never watched the actual movie and have no idea what Hitler was ranting about in it.
In the movie, Hitler was set off by the admission that Felix Steiner was unable to mount the counterattack that Hitler ordered (which everybody else knew was completely impossible to even attempt, but nobody wanted to tell Hitler). Hitler goes on the rant, complaining that all of his generals are incompetent:
“The generals are the scum of the German people! They’re without honour! They call themselves generals because they’ve spent years at a military academy, only to learn how to hold a knife and fork! For years the military has hindered my actions! It has put every conceivable obstacle in my way! I would have done well to have all the senior officers liquidated years ago like Stalin!”
Hitler lays blame on everybody for Germany’s impending defeat except for himself. It’s astonishing how much like Trump the portrayal is.
