If I understand you correctly, it’s not actually a bug, but a designed feature.
To be more specific, if you quote the full text of the post immediately before your post, the system thinks that is redundant and edits it out.
But I understand where you are coming from, and I dislike this feature too.
To wit, I also like to quote the poster I’m reponding to for clarity, even if mine is the very next post. The way to do this to take the following steps: after posting, simply hit the icon to edit your post, put the cursor at the beginning of your post while in edit mode, and hit the quote icon. The quote will then reappear and you can save the edit. Problem solved.
Not trying to junior mod, but editing people’s posts as you are apparently doing is strictly verboten. If you don’t want to go through all the steps I just outlined here, simply do a partial quote. The quote only gets edited out by the board software when you quote the full text of the post you are responding to.
Ben Sasse, formerly Republican Senator from Nebraska, may have been forced out of the Presidency of the University of Florida (although he says it is because of his wife’s health problems):
Reading that article, I can’t tell who I’m supposed to support.
Sasse is controversial for tripling the spending from his office. It appears that a lot was spent on consulting contracts with GOP allies. He’s now being scrutinized to determine if anything unethical or illegal occurred. A prominent Democratic donor has publically said he won’t give any more money to the school until they clear up everything.
In contrast, the other party in this is
UF Board of Trustees chairman, Morteza “Mori” Hosseini. He’s a DeSantis appointee and Sasse’s former boss.
Despite this, it appears the Hosseini has been critical of Sasse and concerned about how he was doing his job. It seems he is justifiably concerned about the spending increase and where that money is going, and was taking steps to rein in Sasse.
Sasse’s wife had a stroke and her health issues are real. Sasse has requested latitude in his work schedule, but was denied.
Still, it does seem the wife’s health concerns are a good reason to resolve an untenable working relationship while saving face for the school. Except people immediately ran behind the scenes to the media to leak the real story.
It’s so stupid. In ladies’ bathrooms you don’t show skin. You have stalls! What are those women so afraid of? A frickin’ * gasp * “man” seeing something? These people are disgusting. Any rando man could walk in and assault a woman in the bathroom. Can’t they see that? It’s nothing but bigotry. NOT a safety issue.
