Is it just me, or did he just make it much, much harder to give someone the death penalty?
My argument is this: Sentencing is supposed to be objective, following the guidelines of the law. But now, he’s explicitly politicized it: When he’s president, it’ll be death sentences galore! Couldn’t someone argue that the Justice Department is only pursuing the death penalty because of his political interference, trying to make himself look “tough on crime” and all that? This will be objectively true in some cases, but everyone subject to the death penalty will try to argue it, making the whole thing just a mess.
I’m slightly amused by Trump’s saying he’d reduce Canadian’s taxes by 60% if they were to join the United States. That just might be the only promise he could keep, after, of course, brininging to an end all those woke socialist communist programs such as national health care, environmental programs, and the provincial/territorial education programs.
And it pisses me off that now foreign officials are saying Trump was joking. NO! He was not joking. He has never joked in his life.
Also, what does he envision the government of the new state (or two states) to be like? Currently, Canada as a whole and the provinces/territories individually follow the Westminster system. To be admitted as a state (or two states), the legislature(s) must be republican in form as required by the United States constitution.
This is just more proof, which is definitely not needed, that Trump is a complete incompent.
Plus, with his insistence that Canada be admitted as one state, it’ll instantly become the most populous state in the Union and control about 10% or so of the Electoral College after the next redistricting, which should make elections from 2032 onward extremely interesting.
I don’t think there’s ever been any court cases on just what, precisely, constitutes a “republican form of government”, but a Westminster system would almost certainly qualify. There are some perennial single-issue crank candidates in the US whose platform consists of converting some state or other to such a form, and while they never get any significant support, I’ve never seen any indication that it wouldn’t be allowed.
“Alright, little X, put your head right in front of daddy’s heart.”
“My name is Kyle.”
“Fuck, this one’s got the woke mind virus. Send him back and get me one that’s at least 15% more Aryan.”
Yeah, Trump is not joking about acquiring new territory and any laughter you hear in the room is the nervous sort. Trump wants to emulate Putin, but is ignoring the opposition, slaughter, and destruction Russia’s territorial ambitions are causing.
IF Trump acquired Canada he’d strip as much money from the Canadians as possible and leave them as little as possible, just as he intends to do in the US.
Yeah, Trump has zero idea how big Canada is. To him, it’s just empty space full of resources no one is exploiting.
