There are so many “overpaid political consultants” to choose from. I’m just busting with curiosity about which one she’s referring to.
Maybe related to this?
January 16 | Politico: House Ethics Committee considering allegations against Nancy Mace
The panel, in a statement Friday, did not explain the reason for its probe that the Office of Congressional Conduct, an independent ethics watchdog, transmitted a referral late last year. The committee must announce its plans for the investigation by March 2.
In response to a request for comment on the committee’s plans, a spokesperson for Mace provided a letter to the House Ethics Committee from the lawmaker’s attorney in response to claims regarding her “lodging expenses and reimbursement practices.”
Maybe they are doing this a month early.
It appears to be related to this New York article that came out today.
That New York Magazine article appears to be paywalled, so can you summarize it?
Interviews with staffers/former staffers.
“She’s not okay,” one former staffer told New York magazine. “There’s nothing here I can point to and say, ‘Oh, this is normal.’”
A second staffer concluded that Mace had “deteriorated, and it sucks.”
Mace also started dispatching staffers on late-night runs for alcohol to keep parties going at her home. “Look, when I worked for her, our poor scheduler was getting calls at two o’clock in the morning to come bring her bottles of tequila,” one former staffer told New York magazine.
One staffer alleged Mace’s excessive drinking and marijuana use became an issue.
One person close to Mace compared the congresswoman to how Bill Maher once described Trump: that she was not a crazy person but played one on TV. “We’ve moved past that now,” the person said. “Something’s broken. The motherboard’s fried. We’re short-circuit
“She’s Not OK”: Bombshell Report Details Nancy Mace’s Downward Spiral
I wonder if those issues have led to behavior that triggered the Ethics Committee investigation.
We’ve talked before about the idea that you (any you) can’t play a role in public for long without it seeping onto the “real you”. The Sean Hannitys of the world eventually turn into the character they portray on TV. Even if they’re trying not to.
Now add in raging substance abuse and you’ve got the making of a real winning scenario. So much winning.
The Kansas legislature says trans people aren’t allowed to drive.
Jeannine Pirro says the 2nd amendment no longer applies in DC.
Is Boebert still maintaining her vow to carry a loaded gun in DC and Congress?
This needs to be repeated until the midterms. Trump’s appointed attorney for DC wants to strip everyone of their Second Amendment rights. There is no other way to say it. This oppressive regime is coming for your guns, folks.
The irony is delicious.
If I was saying it, I’d make sure to use the phrase ‘gun grabber’ in there somewhere.
The Democrat that just flipped Texas… this (gun rights) website just referred to him as a gun grabber.
(Note: I didn’t read that article and have no idea what it’s about, I just happened to see the headline)
Guns now outlawed in D.C.
Pirro: “You bring a gun into the District, you mark my words, you’re going to jail. I don’t care if you have a license in another district and I don’t care if you’re a law abiding law owner somewhere else. You bring a gun into this District, count on going to jail. And that makes all the difference”
So much for the Second amendment.
This is nothing new. The Republicans have always been opposed to gun rights. Like, look at the closest thing they ever found to a scandal on Obama: Something he did enabled someone to get guns.
Markwayne “if CTE was a person” Mullin wants to shut down all commercial air travel to force cities and states to submit to ICE.
So she’s packing irony?
I’m sure it is based on women’s well known tendency to leave the bathroom stall door open when they urinate in a public place, exposing themselves to anyone who enters.
And not hiding their penis while doing so.
Sadly, although this is sarcasm above, it appears to be pretty much the only way.
(sidenote: in a less obsessed country, where I am lucky to live, I’ve had a piss next to a drag queen, and also invited the looong queue at the women’s toilets to use the stalls in the men’s - eagerly taken up by quite a few.
I mean, seriously, all of these women (and certainly the trans women) have seen a penis before, and are disinterested in the gents urination except maybe to joke about the odd toilet experience with their friends)
We have a few unisex toilets in this country, I don’t get the weird US obsession with gender.
I know that men with poor aim piss on the seat. That is the only issue I might raise, BUT aside from that, why not? Just educate men to lift the seat and aim better.
(sorry, this turned into a urination related rant)
Well, urine trouble! ![]()
I’m divorced, unfortunately, but I did teach my son to put it back down. He lives in a majority female house.
I taught him to lift it and then lower it, which makes for a very much easier life for my ex.
