I think he just assumes that word means “leaving the country”.
Yep. If you can see 'em, they jus ain’t 'similated enough.
Racist, idiotic Republicans who desperately cling to a false notion about a white country are the ones refusing to assimilate to my country, the United States.
Wouldn’t that be “scalies”?
At the risk of being accused of “furry-ism” myself, I have to point out that “furries” aren’t really people who like dressing up as animals. I’ve met and mixed with furry fanatics at science fiction and anime conventions. They’re people who are obsessed with anthropomorphic animals, and like drawing them and writing fanfic about them and the like. What sets them apart from people who like reading Carl Barks comic books is a willingness to carry this obsession further, into serious fiction and sexual themes. (or maybe it isn’t, and people who like watching Zootopia movies are simply low-grade furries. You decide)
People who like dressing up are “fursuiters”, an that’s a whole different level than people who simply draw cute bunnies with genitalia.
There’s a TV Tropes page tailor-made for people who are (as I once was) bewildered by the profusion of anthropomorphic-animal comics whose characters could just as well have been depicted as humans:
We’re still not sure what party Fetterman belongs to but he’s nailed the stupid part.
Senator Eric Schmitt (R-Missouri) earns himself another spot in this thread.
Former Special Counsel Jack Smith is being questioned before Congress.
The issue arose of whether Smith had been in Atlanta on a particular date in 2024. Because Schmitt was arguing that Smith had met with an Atlanta DA who was part of a plot against Donald Trump. Smith maintained he hadn’t been in Atlanta at the time.
Schmitt then pulled out his big evidence. He had a poster which he held up for the cameras. The poster contained the text of phone messages Smith had sent and received on that date. And in those messages Smith talked about how he was going to the Hawks game.
Schmitt said that the fact that Smith was at an Atlanta Hawks game on that date meant he was in Atlanta. Schmitt then said: “I don’t think you know that we have this stuff. I will give you a second to process so you don’t perjure yourself. I think you’ve already perjured yourself.”
You could just see Schmitt dreaming about how he was going to look holding up his poster in the lead story of Fox News that night.
Smith then explained that he had gone to an Iowa Hawkeyes game on that date.
You don’t pay a prostitute for sex. You pay her to go away afterward.
And he was able to recall the exact game, because he wanted to see Caitlin Clark play. Clark played for Iowa.
As part of the heated exchange, Schmitt called Smith a ‘dirtbag’.
Schmitt went big on the allegation, telling Smith, “I don’t think you know that we have this stuff.” He urged Smith not to “perjure yourself.” He later called Smith a “dirtbag.” He later told the “Charlie Kirk Show” that he was just asking questions and seeing whether Smith would ensnare himself.
Didn’t work out so well for you, did it, Senator?
Is this why so many Republicans think they’re going to step into a “perjury trap” when they’re asked to testify? Because that’s what they would do???
It’s just more Dunning-Kruger.
Every accusation is a confession.
Republican candidate Borg French
To me, the poster was what really sold the stupidity. If Schmitt’s staff had dug up the phone messages and Schmitt had tried to use them against Smith, this would have been a reasonable mistake and it wouldn’t have been newsworthy.
But Schmitt decided he wanted to make a circus act out of this. He had the messages printed up on a poster so he could hold them up for everybody to see.
And then he ended up being the clown in his own circus.
I personally liked Darlene Graham learning that her brother was working with Jack Smith’s office and was prepared to be a witness for the prosecution.
Schmitt then pulled out his big evidence. He had a poster which he held up for the cameras. The poster contained the text of phone messages Smith had sent and received on that date. And in those messages Smith talked about how he was going to the Hawks game.
They didn’t even say that. It was just a text saying “Is 109 row 1 reserved for Jack?” and a couple of follow-ups. No mention of the Hawks at all.
Now Schmitt is claiming that while he doesn’t know if Smith is lying, he knows that there were no NBA or men’s college games that night at 7:30 except the Hawks. Smith made it clear that he went to see Caitlin Clark specifically.
Now Schmitt is claiming that while he doesn’t know if Smith is lying, he knows that there were no NBA or men’s college games that night at 7:30 except the Hawks.
Coming up next, Schmitt doesn’t know how time zones work…
Now Schmitt is claiming that while he doesn’t know if Smith is lying, he knows that there were no NBA or men’s college games that night at 7:30 except the Hawks.
Oh, sure, Schmitt is going to back pedal. But he screwed up pretty bad and did it in public. The only ones who are going to buy his story now are the hardcore believers who were already in the right wing tent.
