I hope it doesn’t sound like I was defending him in any way. I was pointing out how stupid his back-pedaling was, given that Smith explicitly went to a women’s game.
AKA Going back to where they came from.
Is this why so many Republicans think they’re going to step into a “perjury trap” when they’re asked to testify? Because that’s what they would do???
Shall, not would.
AKA Going back to where they came from.
Bingo.
Schmitt then pulled out his big evidence. He had a poster which he held up for the cameras.
For three seconds. Literally. Three seconds.
Smith then explained that he had gone to an Iowa Hawkeyes game on that date.
In MARYLAND. Not Atlanta.
I’m surprised that Eric “Dirtbag” Schmitt didn’t next allege that Smith had clearly been using cups-connected-by-string to accomplish his conspiring with Fani Willis—Maryland to Atlanta.
By the way, if Schmitt is referred to in any manner other than as Eric “Dirtbag” Schmitt in future, I shall be severely disappointed. He’s earned it!
I think that anyone who publicly fucks themselves over like this in the future should be said to be Schmitting themselves.
Perfect!
That was great watching Klobuchar trying to hold back laughter while calling out, yes, Eric “Dirtbag” Schmitt.
What was really disgusting was Schmitt insisting (after the incident, talking to reporters) that Smith was being “weaponized to go after Biden’s #1 enemy”, thereby declaring falsely yet again that Trump should be immune to all prosecution.
Fucking dirtbag indeed.
I first read this as “Groups predict prostitution strike at RNC.” and thought that finally organized labor had found a way to hit them where it hurts.
They didn’t even say that. It was just a text saying “Is 109 row 1 reserved for Jack?” and a couple of follow-ups. No mention of the Hawks at all.
I was watching a video where they dissected this mess.
They found TV footage clearly showing Smith sitting in that seat, at that game.
Tuberville and Schmitt are demonstrating what happens when you do your own research.
I was wondering if the kid who held up the poster was the one who did the “research.” He might be looking for a new position soon.
Also, what was the deal with holding up the sign for such a short time and not wanting Smith to get a good look at it? I mean I know why but it was so lame.

I think they knew it was weak sauce, but didn’t realize just how weak it was.

It wasn’t about Smith. It was a performance by Eric Schmitt. He saw Jack Smith, the hearing, and the poster as just props centered around his performance. So he didn’t need to hold the poster up long enough for Smith to read it; this wasn’t about introducing a key piece of evidence at a hearing. He just held it up long enough for the cameras to take a picture of him holding it up; that’s all that was needed for the performance. He then launched into his pre-written speech:
In closing, I just want to say in the famous words of the chief of the secret police under Stalin, show me the man, I’ll show you the crime. You may think you’re a hero in this story, but let me tell you something. You’re the villain. You’ve done so much damage - as a former prosecutor, I can say this, so much damage - to the trust and faith people have in our system. You have weaponized the Department of Justice against political enemies to an extent that has never happened in the history of this country. You will go down as a total dirtbag. I yield my time.
You can see Schmitt thinking how good all this was going to look on the news that evening.
And then it all collapsed on him.
If you watch the video, watch Jack Smith during all of this. When Schmitt first begins this act, you can that Smith is confused and a little worried. But eventually he’s able to read the poster and he figures out what’s going on. At this point, you see Smith sit back and relax; he knows Schmitt has stepped into a pile of shit but just doesn’t know it yet.

/tinfoil hat on
How do you know that wasn’t… Jack Smith’s DOUBLE? *
They had to have a cover story so he could get down to Atlanta and conspire with Fani Willis against Trump, so they had his double attend the game while he jetted down in a top-secret supersonic stealth aircraft and then back before anyone could know he was gone. The Maryland-Iowa game was a perfect cover… except that the libs didn’t realize that no one goes to watch women’s sports except if their own daughter or sister is playing!
* Also his daughter’s double, to be clear, in the next seat over. Man, this left-wing conspiracy can do anything!
he knows Schmitt has stepped into a pile of shit but just doesn’t know it yet.
More like he’s stepped on a land mine and it went >click<
Man, this left-wing conspiracy can do anything!
Naw. During the 2020 election they added millions of votes at the top of the ballot to ensure their man won the Presidency but didn’t bother down-ballot.
He then launched into his pre-written speech:

Yanno, I think we just might have seen Peak Accusation is Confession right there.
At least until next week when they’ll top this.
And top that yet again the next week. And the next. Sigh.
And another thing …
Fucking stupid Schmitt did not understand what this meant: “the chief of the secret police under Stalin, show me the man, I’ll show you the crime.”
It meant that that corrupt evil policeman can be shown any man, however honest and honorable, and he and his corrupt organization can invent a crime that’ll stick to him.
Sure sounds like Schmitt was right: the current corrupt processes can stick a fake crime on Smith and might even make it stick. That’s certainly transparently obviously their intent.
Yanno, I think we just might have seen Peak Accusation is Confession right there.
At least until next week when they’ll top this.
Or until next week when the pictures of Tommy Tuberville wearing a racoon suit and lingerie get leaked to the press.
Hell hath no fury like a Fascist furry exposed.
