NEW Stupid Republican Idea of the Day (Part 4)

Seattle? Schmitt was trying to intimate that Smith was in Atlanta.

Her standing is that she wants to be in the news for something other than datacenters and literally running away from reporters.

It’s all missing the point. They’re not trying to find factual issues or evidence of crimes.

They’re trying to win in the court of public opinion, not a court of law.

Most Dopers aren’t sleazebags, though, so it doesn’t cross our minds to think of doing these kinds of things just to score political points

No, that’s her motivation.

To file a lawsuit she has to come up with some reason she can claim Smith’s actions affected her in a negative way.

That’s for a normal person, not a malicious little piece of shit that is routinely outsmarted by cheese.

She’ll just make up something to file. People can and do file for just about every nonsensical reason.

To win a lawsuit or even have it progress past the early stages (assuming a non-corrupt judge/jury), she needs more. But, as I pointed out earlier, her actual purpose is courting public opinion. She couldn’t care less if the suit is tossed. She can just blast the judge as some corrupt, woke fool. Win-win as far as she’s concerned.

Right, and in addition, they are used to their MAGA audience taking everything they say unthinkingly and uncritically.

If I was going to mock Trump’s complexion, I would have chosen “Julius” as a code name.

I’ve never seen anyone that color (except for Gritty).

No, because then some Republican would claim you were planning a conspiracy to stab Trump to death.

Clarification: I think Blackburn was using “a type of orange” to refer to the satsuma variety called “Arctic Frost”, rather than claiming it’s a recognized name for any shade of the color orange.

Yeah, seems quite likely that the investigation codename was chosen as a mocking reference to Mango Mussolini’s makeup practices, but talk about Streisand Effect, eh? Nobody who wants to curry favor with old Turmeric Face should be going on public record describing his complexion as mockable.

Perhaps, but as previously pointed out, the codename was chosen before Smith was put on the case. Even if she has a point, she’s suing the wrong person

But you’re not taking into consideration that Marsha Blackburn is a fucking idiot.

If your “frost” is orange, you should consult a doctor.

Standing, yes. Also, where is the tort?

And to complete my knowledge of legal terms, Marsha Blackburn appears to be an excellent example of a vexatious litigant..

And we all know how touchy they are about that:

Now the Seahawks are involved??

/s

No, it was a basketball game, so clearly they were meeting at a Supersonics match.

Of course. It was the Jayhawks.
