Roger Marshall is now aping Trump’s mispronunciation of “vegan”.
To thank Trump for defending him against the accusation of being “a Shylock,” no doubt.
And we thought couch fucking was bad…
Vive Ramaswamy is trailing in the OH governor race, so he’s now running ads featuring his opponent’s estranged mother claiming that the candidate is lying about having been raped by her stepfather 50 years ago.
When musk is in charge of MAGA party strategy because he’s the one paying all the bills, we can sure expect a lot of repulsive ads. Maybe even enough to make them lose bigly. One can dream.
Ramaswamy confirms the ad comes from his campaign and not a PAC, and court documents back up Acton’s side of the story.
Stick a fork in him, he’s done.
ETA: Here’s Acton’s statement about the ad and the abuse she suffered at the hands of her mother and stepfather;
Wow. Reminds me a little of our recent failed pittings (against Der_Trihs and iiandiiii).
Gawd. Deplorean Taylor isn’t even smart enough to know what her job is, let alone do it. I’m not even sure she could find her way home without help.
But I’d bet she can follow orders real good.
Having gone through some similar things, including the mentally ill mother, I have to applaud her measured response. I can only imagine what this must be bringing up for her at such an important time. This isn’t the kind of thing you just get over. It’s the kind of thing that stays with you for life, surfacing at inconvenient times, and for her to maintain equilibrium after such a vicious attack really speaks to her commitment to serving people. If it were me, and that was my crazy Mom, I don’t know if I could have held it together.
I may have to donate to her campaign.
As someone who grew up in a horribly abusive household, I am sickened by this ad and the depravity that underpins it.
Disgusting. I hope it backfires spectacularly.
OK besides the vileness of the ad content, THIS is just goddamn baffling campaign malpractice. Are the voters supposed to be impressed that you’d go there, Vivek? Or maybe other person(s) you want to impress with how you, too, believe in the cruelty being the point?
(And really, dude, you think the key swing group is the people who believe someone complaining of sexual assault MUST be lying? They’re already voting for you.)
I agree, only a truly vile human being could think this was a good idea, but that’s who seems to be in charge of GOP campaigns now.
Jorkin Dapeanus Vance says the ad is fine if it helps them win.
Yep. He’s not disgusted by the ad, he’s disgusted at Republican pushback to the ad.
One of the cable news channels teased this story earlier today, and during the commercial break (before the story actually aired) I briefly thought ‘surely what Vivek has done is a bridge too far even for JD; he’ll denounce it.’
How naively foolish a thought that was.
From Thiel’s mouth to Vance’s ears.
Holy ever-loving motherfuck, VIE-vick RAMMA-swam-eee (Yes, I say it that way. Fuck him AND his handlers) can eat a bowl of shit. Cold, wet shit.
Dr. Acton’s interview with WOSU aired, this morning. She was good. Not GREAT, but good. (More than
I expected. She is an AWFUL public speaker.)
My wife and I have a running tally of Red vs. Blue yard signs here in Deep MAGAt Country.
It’s starting to look like time is running out…
This bit with Vance is a sharp contrast to the discussion about who doesn’t like Newsom and why.
It’s the old “Ds fall in love (or don’t), Rs all fall in line” bit all over again.
Vance is ordering the R voters to ignore the Ramaswamy stupidity and just vote R like the brainless foot soldiers they are. Besides, tough is the prime measure of merit. It takes toughness to put out an ad like that.
Meanwhile half the Ds are all bent out of shape because Newsom’s hair bothers them, suggesting he’s “slick” and he’s not from working class roots, so is unelectable because Ds won’t vote for him.
I’m not seeing a lot of hope for democracy in this country with that kind of non-thinking on either side. It’s very different kinds of non-thinking, but I’m still shaking my head.
An ad so vile, the National Review exposed its lies (for the love of God, Montressor, don’t read the comments).
