The revamped system overall is fine, and I know you all have been working your butts off and I’m sure we all appreciate it - that being said, however, I would like to voice one or two concerns.
Most of my posting is done via shared computers, and although I indicated that the browser NOT remember my name and password in the profile, every time I come back my password, but not my name are there. True the password is thus ****, but that does not mean someone might not have picked up my name around here - doubtful but possible, and I regard it as a ‘security’ glitch. Is there something else I should do? Or is it an aspect of the system.
Since this is a shared computer and it remebers my password regardless, no one else has the option of using it to register themselves on the SD using it. I had one friend try, and the system kept telling him he was me and could not reregister.
You can’t change your sig with out changing it on ALL of this years posts. This one has been mentioned before and is admittedly an exceedingly minor point but since I’m venting I thought I’d throw it in.

I’ve also just noticed that some of the threads I’ve posted in are now out of sequence. Case and point - I was the OP in “When we Used to Play Outside” but now I’m the 12th and Punditlisa is the top of the thread. No big deal, but I have noticed it in at least two other more recent thread, they’d just be harder to explain here. This is just a weirdness being reported.
There’s a two step solution to your problem.

Go to your profile settings and turn ON “Store Username & Password in browser memory.” (Hold on, I’ll explain.)

When your session on the board is finished, go to the first page of the Straight Dope Message Board and scroll down to the bottom. You will see a little hyperlink that says, “Log Out?” Click it and follow the prompts.
That removes the cookie with your name and password from the system. You will have to log in again when you return and you want to make a posting to the system.
If you don’t have the “store username” enabled, you don’t see the Log In/Log Out links. Yes, it’s a bug and one we hope is corrected soon.
It’s also a bug that scrambles post order. We’re looking at that one too.
