Got food?
Howdy Y’all! We go the old file cabinet to the landfill (they didn’t charge us!) and then we went to the not too shabby Chinese hog trough buffet place. This was followed by quality cee-mint pond time, day drinkin’, and nappage. Now we are inside and await the rain that is on the way. Matter of fact, I do believe I hear the pitter patter of raindrops as I post. Thus has been the day in swampland.
Home, showered, and chilling. Man, the water tanks on the boat were gross!! When FCD finally got the access panels off (he had to grind the heads off a couple of screws) he used the wet/dry vac to suck up the gunk in the bottom. Spray in water, slosh it around, suck it out, repeat. Then we bought 4 bottles of bleach (when did gallon jugs become just over half a gallon? And for $3.59 each???) and dumped 2 bottles in each tank, then filled them with water again.
I opened all the taps in the boat till I could smell the bleach water coming out, so all the plumbing is filled with bleach water. We’re letting it sit overnight. Tomorrow, I’ll run all the taps again and we’ll empty both tanks, then fill them with fresh water, flush the system again, empty the tanks, and fill them again. We’re also going to get an in-line water filter.
FCD cleaned the access panels, then painted them. He also cleaned the rubber gaskets. Tomorrow, he’ll clean the tops of the tanks and by the end of the day, we’ll reassemble everything. I still don’t think I’ll want to drink the water aboard - I don’t think I did on any of our boats - but it’ll be fine for washing dishes and selves.
Owies for both of us. I had a little plastic folding stool that I got at the dollar store. I discovered today that if you don’t step firmly in the center, you’ll break the legs on one side, fall, and whack your shin and your noggin. No blood, bit I expect colorful bruises by morning.
And while FCD was sitting with his feet in the locker where the water tanks are, one of the access doors fell and whacked him on the knee. Poor baby. We did plumbing today so he could give his legs a break… didn’t want that kind of break tho. Again, no blood, but he was hurting.
I wrapped the chickie tits I bought the other day and they’re vacuum-packed and crammed in the freezer. I also built 2 meatloaves - a small one for us and a bigger one that we’ll take to FL - also crammed in the freezer.
It’s dark and rumbly, and a few raindrops fell. My daughter and a friend from work are going to a concert tonight. It’s outdoors at the Marine Museum. I hope they don’t get rained out. Show starts at 7 and from the looks of the weather radar, the storm should be over by then.
So, now, chillage. I’s tahred from all the fresh air and sunshine!
taters, your time limit puts the kibosh on online orders, but, if you are OK with second hand, Goodwill tends to have some decent office wear, at least where I live. If you have drifted into plus sizes, Woman Within has some decent cotton blouses online.
Mooooom, bleach jugs got smaller when they began concentrating it. If you look at the instructions, they call for less to do the same amount of laundry / cleaning. If you get them in the gallon + change size, they’re about $5.59 (just bought one yesterday). Hope neither of your owies are unbearable.
I got the Goodwill donation boxed up, but forgot to put it into the car when I took mail to the post office down the street. Oy! Panera fixed a strawberry / poppyseed salad and half a sandwich with an apple for supper. The salad was good, with not only strawberries, but apples, mandarins, pecans, roasted chicken and blueberries. I picked out most of the blueberries and fed them to Nelson (not crazy about them myself, but he likes them).
Happy Saturday!
Weird morning at the park. Nice weather. Echo was a bit of an ass today though.
She went after Sky again, but I wonder if Sky does something that triggers her, because Sky went after Ripple today. I know Ripple didn’t do anything wrong, he is just chilling all the time.
FCM, I meant drag the in-laws back up here permanently.
I agree about crab cakes. It should be mostly crab and just enough filler to hold them together.
The was a restaurant in Baltimore that was putting pineapple in their crabcakes, some kind of Hawaiian fusion or something. Maybe it tastes good, maybe it doesn’t, but I think what they are serving should not be called crabcakes.
Once I got crabcakes on the Eastern Shore and they were more like crab pancakes. Very thin, but basically just pure crab meat. They were really good, but not what I was expecting.
My mother went to the hospital yesterday. Nobody told me until today. She collapsed from being dehydrated. Nobody was allowed to go in with her, and she forgot her phone. Niece1’s husband went to pick her up and bring her home. Good thing as he is strong and is literally able to pick her up. She needed to be carried into the house again.
She called me today and practically begged me to come to see her tomorrow. It was not in our plans, but we are going. I had considered going by myself, but once my son heard about her going to the hospital, he figured he’d better go.
I honestly wonder if she will make it until the 28th.
I hold my tongue a bit MetalMouse, I don’t want to feel that way. It’s why I push my son to go visit too, I dont want him to feel guilty for not going to see her.
I don’t know if Ripple had a bad experience or not. He has been a little weird lately.
My son is exhausted from irk, and next week he has to go in M thru F for 12-hour shifts. A few weeks ago, they had no irk, now they are swamped. He put in for vacation for the 27th and 28th and his manager said he should be able to have off. He wanted the 29th as well, but that is not likely to happen. He really can’t miss this family get together. If he can’t get off irk, then I have to miss it too.
I told him that if they deny his request to explain the situation to them.
I like your solution Nellie. I had considered it myself.
Somebody down there is going to handle it.
I probably shouldn’t get upset that she got snippy. She deals with a lot.
Buddy is a cutie.
I didn’t get much of anything done today. I ordered groceries and picked them up.
I’ve been waking up between 4 and 430 and I’m really tired.
We played 18 holes of golf today.
Miniature golf. TBH, the course was mid; but it was still fun.
I made 6-ounce cheeseburgers cooked on the barbie, on toasted buns. I had chicharrones, and the Spousal Unit is having potato chips.
Evening all. Just completed about an hour’s nappage, I should never try to solve Sudoku’s while lying on the bed. Big Bowl O’Sallit consumed for dinner, so that should hold me unitl tomorrow. Did do my half-hour of swimmin’ and whirlpool/sauna, so that killed a couple of hours.
Sunday is my “Dine Out” day and I have a chart so I can distribute my business to various restaurants I like. Tomorrow is " ‘Rat’'s Choice", and I am divided between a half-dozen hot Krispy Kreme donuts and driving over to Decatur to their Golden Corral. I’ll make up my mind tomorrow…
Flyboy, haven’t played mini golf in years; might have to consider it, sounds like fun.
{{Sari}}. sounds like a rough patch for you; hoping it all works out.
FCM, hope both the owies (yours and FCD’s) get better soon.
Everyone else yeahs, boos, hugs and dope slaps as required. All y’all take care, I’m going back to Virtual Railfan and watch trains in Ft. Madison, IA.
I might have played it as a teenager once, but otherwise it’s been since I was a kid or maybe 13. The courses of my childhood were much better than the one we have here. But yeah, it was fun.
And my new bear, who smells as good as his name:
Allie is in a seriously cranky mode with Buddy, and his decision to swat at her didn’t help. She popped him a good one while snarling and he just looked confused. I don’t see any evidence she drew blood.
The heaving went OK. Figured out the problem with the overgoods printer. there was dirt on the thermal print head. So much like Gordie, the printer needs to have its head rubbed occasionally to avoid a meltdown. I did laundry, and had Asian BBQ stirfry for dinner. I’m drinking a Munzler’s Vienna lager from OMB(Not to be confused with OMD){YMMV}
: throws chicken :
{{{{sari, sahson, Mom, and Ripple}}}}
I like the bear, nettie. And Ghiradelli chocolate).
All y’all mini golf people need to check out Holey Moley on the tv. The latest season had muppets!
Bloody fights usually involve both claws and teeth. When cats really get into it, it’s unmistakable. Allie was just getting tired of Buddy pestering her when she wanted to relax. The integration is going very well IMHO.
I remember once VBC got pretty ticked at GG for the same thing and played loud basketball with his head and the bare HARD laminate floor. I heard his poor head bouncing at least 5 times before I was able to break it up. No blood happened and he ran off and hid under the loveseat, went to sleep and forgot why he was scared.
Mom’s been fussing about our reservations for the seminar AND I’ve read a bunch of nightmare travel stories so I called the resort yesterday to make sure all was good. The nice young lady who answered the phone was very nice about it and said she would rather “waste” (my word, not her’s) her time answering a hundred of my sort of calls than have someone have a meltdown in the middle of the night because there was a problem with their booking.
The rooms I booked back in the beginning of Feb for 125/night are now sold out but if I released our rooms they would be snapped up for over 500/night. I’d sleep in my car for that and I’ve got a little econobox.
I do have a back seat and a big trunk so can pack as much as we need. I’m thinking about bringing a toaster so we can have our morning coffee and toast/bagel in our jammies instead of having to get clean and purtified before being able to eat anything. We are going to have a balcony and I’m hoping there will be an electrical socket out there so we don’t have to worrying about smoke detectors going off.
Mom has been in a hotel that evacuated because someone was smoking in their room and said EVERYONE knew who the smoker was and shunned her for the rest of the seminar. I don’t want to be her, I’ll buy an extension cord if needed.
hahahahahaha you made a funny joke!! (that’s not snark, really…)
They’ve made it more than clear over the last few years that they’re not leaving Florida. They don’t want to leave their church and their friends, they don’t want the hassle of finding new doctors, dentist, etc, they just don’t want to move. They intend to die right where they are. We only hope they don’t take anyone else with them. And I hope like heck that FCD and I don’t do this to our daughter 20 years from now…
I haven’t played in years, and now I want to. But I have no idea where there’s a course around here. I may look into it just for the heck of it.
I woke with a tender, colorful patch on my leg and a small goose egg on my forehead. Just like when I was 10… OMG!!! I’m regressing!!!
I don’t think I mentioned it, but on our way to the boat yesterday, we stopped at a jeweler so I could drop off my wedding band to get it resized. It was a 6 1/2 and after trying a couple of size samples, I requested 7 1/2 - the 7 caught slightly at my unswollen knuckle, so I knew it’d be an issue if I had a fat hand day. It took longer to get me into the computer than to make my choice. The nice young man there (OMG, I heard that in an old lady voice) told me it’d be about a week and $45. And off I went.
When I got home, I had an email telling me my ring was ready!! Had I checked before we left the boat, I could have picked it up then. As it is, I have to wait till Moanday since they’re closed today. No biggie, but dang, quick service!
We had a downpour with some boom-booms roll thru yesterday evening. I was a but worried because of my daughter going to the outdoor concert, but they weren’t sweating it. They didn’t care about missing the opening act, and by the time they arrived, the rain had passed. She did text me to say she saw an accordion on stage. I told her to expect Polka Time! Hope she had fun on Girls Night Out.
We’ll head back to the marina whenever FCD is done sleeping. His new morning routine is to get up around 5-ish, take his pain meds, and go back to bed. Then when he wakes again, his pain is considerably less. I worry about him taking NSAIDS on an empty stomach, but he doesn’t listen to me. I will ask him to discuss it with his doctor later this week… (ETA: he couldn’t fall back to sleep - he’s up, dressed, and ready to go, and here I sit in my robe and slippers.)
Anyway, the big plan is to finish the water system today. I ordered a filter unit last night and it should get here by Firday. It should be a relatively easy day of filling and emptying the water tanks till the water flows/smells clean. They we’ll reinstall the access panels and gaskets and live happily ever after. Because that’s how it works with boat stuff. Sweet dreams, kiddies…
Um, maybe that bump on my head was worse than I thought?
Happy Sunday!!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 70 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 89 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. The big item on today’s agenda is deheathenization. I have Verger duty today. I got someone to fill in as Chalice bearer, so yay for that. After we are deheathenized, we shall return to da cave for N.O.L. which shall be whatever one desires outta da fridge. Since it is supposed to be nice out, maybe some quality cee-mint pond time is in store.
Nettie sounds to me like Allie and Buddy are bein’ just normal siblin’s. I like the bear.
MetalMouse get the half dozen KKs and eat them while drivin’ over to the hog trough Golden Corral. That way you can have an appetizer.
I haven’t played miniature golf in a long time. There is a local one that is kinda fun.
Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, purtification for deheathenization must commence.
Happy Sunday Y’all!
{{{sari and family}}}
Up, caffeinating and fixing to do KP. I think I’ll go for coffee with the freethinkers this morning, but other than that, just the usual Sunday chores.
Stay safe and healthy y’all!
Afternoon, mumpers! It’s 26c/79f with a predicted high of 29c/84f and partly cloudy. Weather app says “It’s nice out. Whoopty fuckin’ doo.” I agree…I am up, cats are fed and appropriately medicated, I have a cup of tea, all is well. 'im indoors is still being a slugabed, the aircon unit is on in the bedroom so it’s blissfully cool in there. I have windows open upstairs so it’s not too bad here.
I had a text message this morning from my union advising members to dress in whatever’s respectable but cool enough to be comfortable, carry water and if we’re late to work due to travel disruption, we shouldn’t be penalised for it. That sounds like good advice to me, it’s what I’d planned to do, and I’m not bothered if any of my team who are due on campus tomorrow show up late because of commuter problems. I’d be happier for them all to work from home (or a shady spot in the garden!) but the uni insists we have offices open. My office is always hot and humid, it’s a poorly designed 60s monstrosity and since we are prone to burglaries, the windows have been restricted so that they only slide open about 6". Thus we have fans in the office. Lots of fans.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off today. Cleaning, and perhaps a nap on the agenda today.
“I love the round things!” - The Tenth Doctor, and 1960’s architects
Good morning everyone.
It’s currently 56 degrees and cloudy, and highs on this side of the mountains will top out in the mid-sixties. Where I’m going later today it will be in the 80s.
I went to the mall and did find some new blouses. I wanted to find a couple of new boulder holders, but by the time I was trying to shop for those I was on my last nerve. I was at a JC Penney, and in my neck of the woods, they divide it into two separate stores. In other words, men’s clothing is in a whole 'nother store located in a different part of the mall. The first time I became vexed in the dressing room was when I heard a guy in the room next to me shouting out that the top was too big. I had a definite WTF moment but tried to shrug it off. I went back and forth to the dressing room a few times, but on my final trip, when I was trying to find bras that fit correctly a woman and her male partner dragged a chair into the handicapped dressing room (again right next to me). She was apparently trying on lingerie or something and the talk soon turned to sexy talk. Explicit sexy talk. Like between two people only and definitely not in public. There was a little panting. Jesus. I was pissed. I just wanted to try on some damn clothes and get in and out. At this point, I put my own clothes back on, gathered my stuff, and left. I wanted to get a multipurpose cross-body bag at Macy’s, but at this point, I was super irritated and just over the whole shopping thing. I hate shopping, even on a good day, but this was just ridiculous.
At any rate, I came home with some nice blouses and a pair of pants. I washed everything and just need to finish packing this morning so I can hit the road.
I also stopped at a car wash on the way home because I had bug guts all over my windshield and a bird poop splat on my hood from my last trip. I wanted to vacuum the back of the Jeep because it had Polar hair all over it from his last trip to the vet, but all the vacuum stations were full and cars were lined up waiting for them.
I’m sorry that FCD still has so much pain. I really hope he goes to the pain management clinic and they find a solution.
I’m glad that your rooms are still there, JtC.
I need another cup of coffee. I think I’ll vacuum the back of the Jeep out here before I hop in the shower and pack. It’s not a big race to leave here in the morning since I can’t check into my room until the late afternoon anyway.
I hope you all have a great day!
Morning all. Got up at 6am and to me that’s doughnut time so I added a few clothes and went over to the Krispy Kreme for my once-every-two-months glazed doughnut pigout. So they are now resting comfortably in my stomach and I suppose my sugar levels are rather elevated but I don’t care, they were sooooo good…
So will probably have to try and make it to the gym to work off some of those calories, but that is for later in the day. Still have to clean out my main closet for the plumbers tomorrow. Outside of that sloth will probably be my main stock in trade.
boo fae, around here 79F sounds pretty nice (heading for 94F today). And your workplace reminds me of a few buildings when I was going to college. Hang in there.
FCM, happy water flushing. I’ve got to turn mine on here in a bit to do the ‘necessaries’ and then turn it back off. Pain in the butt but better than throwing hundreds of gallons away.
JtC, I always try to book early too, saves a lot of hassle and often $$ doing so. I’m fully booked for my Antarctica trip in February. Hope your travel goes as planned. Don’t ever remember bringing a toaster to a hotel, but whatever works for you…
OK, onward into the morning. All y’all take care.
Why does bleach water foam up? We pumped out the tanks and the water in the creek has a head on it! When I first turned on the taps, there were bubbles! FCD tapped new screw holes for the access panels, so we’ve got a trip to the hardware store in our future. I found our lost switches in a locker - all because someone insisted we clean up last weekend.
It’s hot and the sun is beating down. We have our swimsuits and I expect we’ll use them later.
Just heard a car alarm go off across the creek - does anyone ever pay attention to them?
Ok, back to work…
