New TV Season... what's gonna be good?

I’m looking forward to ** The Hack **

I’ve always loved those types of Everyday hero shows.

A lot of shows I’ve given up on are still on: The Practice, Judging Amy, Frasier, West Wing, and ER, to name just a couple.

New season of Amazing Race! Yahoo! That looks like my only conflict – it’s on against The Bachelorette (all six weeks of it), so I guess I’ll have to tape.

It looks like there’s a couple of nights, like Tuesday, where I can just turn off the TV after the ET/Hollywood Squares Newshour.

ALIAS!

And Futurama, The Simpsons (dragging though), and Scrubs. Only good shows on network television right now IMHO.

Sunday: We’ll check out Bram and Alice, and hope Becker gets better.
Monday: Third Watch is back! CSI Miami should be good. Here’s hoping.
Tuesday: We’ll try Life With Bonnie 'cause we like Bonnie Hunt.
Wednesday: Ed (although I’m getting pretty sick of the teenager story lines) and The West Wing and we’ll probably check out MDs.
Thursday: We’ll probably try out Dinotopia, but if it’s as bad as the mini-series, we’ll drop it. Also CSI is back! Woot!
Friday: Firefly could be good or it could be dreadful, in either case. it’ll probably get cancelled quickly, we’ll see. The rest of Friday’s tough. I like the actor starring in Hack a lot, (but apparently not enough to remember his name) but Friday is Stargate SG-1, Farscape night around here. Good thing we have VCRs.
Saturday: Mrs. B will be watching The District. I’ll probably watch too. It’s kinda cheesy (and preachy) sometimes, but we like the actors.

Monk, Dead Zone (already loving those two!), West Wing, Buffy, Angel, Smallville and Gilmore Girls. That’s about the extend of my TV watching, and almost half are new shows.

StG

Well, Farscape is gone until January now and I think SG-1 is going the same way in September, so you may have Fridays free for a while.

I’m looking forward to the returns of Dawson’s Creek(shaddup),Buffy, er, Charmed and to a lesser degree Boston Public. I will also sheepishly confess to more than likely be watching the shows on The-N, which I discovered this summer. I really wonder if they realize how many people in their 20’s are watching a teen-oriented station…

Since so many of the shows I watched got the axe, (X-files, Felicity, Roswell, and I sort of watched Ally McBeal) I’m willing to give some new shows a shot, hoping they will last longer than the only new shows I started to watch last season(Pasadena, Wolf Lake and Glory Days), all of which crashed and burned.

I’ll definitely check out Haunted , ** Birds of Prey** and Boomtown. I would like to see Without a Trace so maybe the weeks er is a re-run, or if someone will tape it…

I might try watching an episode of Fastlane(if only because they worked a miricle, seen only before in that terrible movieSupernova, and made Peter Facinilli hot), and Firefly (if only because of its creator- I do not like things based on spaceships) and maybe try to watch Angel again, though I wrote it off the 1st season. I won’t be watching any new sitcoms, because the only ones I’ve liked in the past 5 or 10 years died fairly quickly(Norm, 2 Guys and a Girl, Random Years, Andy Richter) and it’s just too painful to try and find one I can stand :slight_smile:

<scrambles onto soapbox for a moment to make testimonial>
I will give up my VCR when they pry it from my cold dead fingers- I rarely watch the shows when they’re on, and I like to archive them.

When should we start a thread to make predictions on which new shows will be circling the drain first?

I can tell you what won’t be good - “Docs”. At least, I think that’s what it’s called. It’s the one about the band of rebel doctors who buck the evil HMOs in charge of their hospital that try to prevent anyone from getting treated. Yeah! Stick it to the man, hero-docs! And you know they’re good, because they wear funky clothing. :rolleyes:

Docs, brought to you by Mega-Ultra-Family-Medico-Plexcorp, your family in the medical business…
Who wants to wager David Caruso drops CSI: Miami for a film career after one season???

Well. It’s interesting how many shows you mention are here too. Some shows lag behind terribly, 'cause the network here doesn’t believe in them. Buffy will start S.3 here, Fridays at 00.10…

So my weekly schjedule will be:
Monday
@8 C.S.I
@9Bostan Public
@10.30Dark Angel
Tueasday
@8 West Wing
@9 Popstars (dont know if it’s on TV in the U.S. yet
Wednesday is comedy central at ch5.
@8 Friends
@8.30 Spin City
@9 ** Ed**
@10.00 Frasier
Thursdays are weak. The Districtis the only semi-good show
Fri-Sat are also weak. Sunday is movie of the week.

So it’s works kinda well. Evenings when I’m at home doing nothing is when the good shows are on. I’ve got Buffy and Angel on DVD, so no sweat about the bad scheduling. Angel is not even on the air yet, over here.

The Gaspode Popstars came and went last year. It wasn’t renewed since it didn’t have much of an audience.
