Next month is my 16th Dope Anniversary.

Yikes.

SIXTEEN years.

Wow.

That’s all.

'99ers rolling over to Sweet Sixteen. Um-hmm.

Ahhhh, so you’re one of those snooty 99’ers!! :stuck_out_tongue:

We’ve seem them come. We’ve seen them go. But we’re still here.

ETA: Even though it takes several minutes to post something like this.

Congratulations. You passed the audition.

I am just barely a 99’er.

I remember, back in the old days, when posts were real posts, and satire was real satire, and little green furry things from Alpha Centauri were real little green furry things from Alph— er, what was I saying again?

I was about to throw you off my lawn but I see we’re only a couple years apart. So I guess I’ll congratulate you instead.

June 1999 - Napster was released, but we didn’t know what it was yet. The war over Kosovo ended, but it wasn’t a real war. TV was finally allowed in Bhutan, but no one knows where that is. What could you possibly have had to post about?

You’re old.

I opened this thinking “OMG 16 years, that’s CRAZY”

Then I realized I’m also a 99er.

I’m not sure if I should be proud or embarrassed.

Next week, on Monday, I’ll have been here (on and off) for 15 years.

Maybe I’ll start the MMP, despite having never participated (to the best of my knowledge).

Newbie

I have been a part of this online community longer than I have ever done anything else in my life that I can think of. I’ve never lived anywhere so long, and I certainly have never had a job so long.

My relationships tend to last, though. There are 9 people in the world outside my family that I love deeply. The years I have known them:

4 x 45 years
1 x 38 years
1 x 30 years
1 x 23 years
2 x 15 years

So wow… I have been among you guys longer than I have known my two most recent close friends.

I had two cocker spaniels that both lived to 16.5 years old, but outside of that, it looks like my relationship to the Dope is currently and may always be my longest-lasting relationship of all! Whoa thunk?

(For anyone who hasn’t, I recommend checking out the thread about biggest life events since you signed up here, it’s fascinating to read what kind of life changes people have gone through. And it’s what prompted me to these thoughts in the first place.)
