NFL 2022 Week Ten Commandments

It’s week 10, and the Eagles are likely to continue their undefeated season for at least another week, the Packers are rare underdogs at home, and the Colts look to turn around their season with a new coach. Oops, I mean the Colts look to fully commit to tanking the season.

The Seahawks/Bucs and Vikings/Bills look like the games to watch, except for us poor west coasters who don’t want to get up at 6:30 am for the game in Munich. And let’s see if the Vikings were taking notes on how to beat the Bills with consistent pressure on the QB. Of course, any note taking might be wasted if Josh Allen sits this one out, as is rumored after he missed a second practice today.

Welp, I started to type out my thread, so I’ll just plop it here:

Only about halfway through a very odd year of football. The Seahawks get much better by trading away their franchise QB. The Giants are 6-2, despite having only a +6 point differential. The Super Bowl Champ Rams are 3-5. And the Packers are atrocious. Did not see any of this coming.

One thing I’ve been waiting for awhile to happen, has finally happened. The AG in Washington DC has filed a civil suit against Dan Snyder and the Washington Commanders for lying and covering up information that could harm consumers. Sure, it’s a bullshit kind of charge, but given that the NFL hasn’t done shit to really punish Snyder, it’s something. Any day that is bad for Dan Snyder is a good day.

I think the 49ers - Chargers game will be one of the more interesting ones.
And I don’t know why, and feel free to flame me on this, but I am predicting a Commanders upset on MNF.

A-Rod ought to pull a Vontae Davis and retire right now. There is zero reason for him to play a single more down of football. The Packers clearly aren’t going to the playoffs, Rodgers is old, and every snap is one more play he could break his neck or destroy his brain. He already won a Super Bowl and made his hundreds of millions of dollars Time to quit.

1 out of 4 on extra points in this Thursday night game. Must be in the neighbourhood of a record for futility.

Seattle had another slow start the first half just to step it up and be a powerhouse the second half but just can’t stop the Bucs from getting first downs. Hopefully they 'Hawks get the ball one more time needing a TD to win.

They did not.

{\color{blue}\mathbf{Big Blue}} is at home hosting the Texans: 1-6-1

A swarming defense and a well designed first possession that gave the Giants a fast TD and the lead.

I like the fast pace on offense. Makes for a better game and generally favors Jones I think.

I think that early success was more because it was the scripted first drive than about pace.

Looks like the big plays in this game are going to be on the ground. (And defense.) Works for me.

EDIT: Over/under on the combined passing yards for both quarterbacks in this game feels like around 250. I’m taking the under.

Combined passing in the first half was 111. Under is looking good!

EDIT: Ha! Danny Dimes heard me talking smack. Nice. (Of course 51 of those 54 yards were YAC by Darius Slayton. Speaking of, go Slayton!)

Was that the biggest play of Slayton’s career? I can’t think of a biggest one.

He put up at least one 30+ point fantasy day for me his rookie year, if I recall correctly. Looking it up now, his career long is 55 from his rookie year, compared to the 54 today. He had 750 yards each of his first two years. Looked promising, especially after an impressive preseason his rookie year (like a mini Victor Cruz) but then he disappeared ever since.

The refs seem to be putting in the work to get the Lions down the field. They flagged the Bears on 3 penalties on this drive, two of which I would argue were ticky tacky, the third one even erased an interception from one of the LBs.

I dig the Giants punter – The Scottish Hammer – but after today I’m starting to get a wandering eye. Any good free agent punters on the waiver wire, I wonder?

Big D Big D. Two red zone turnovers on consecutive drives for the Giants defense. Love to see it.

A very strange game. This is the 2022 Giants version of dominating I think. I mean an 11 point lead?

Overall I feel like Jamie Gillan has been really solid for us. So maybe he’s just having a crappy day?

EDIT: Oops, sorry, this isn’t the dynasty thread.

Just saw the worst defensive back play in my life, courtesy of Buffalo’s #39, Cameron Lewis. 4th & 18, an incompletion means game over. Jump ball w/ a Viking receiver, and instead of sticking just one hand in there to knock the ball away, he tries to catch it, and the Viking gets one hand on it. Lewis can still just rip the ball away since he has both hands on it, but somehow doesn’t even try.

Have to root for a Washington win over Philly.

I would really love to see the Giants D up one last time here and end it.

That sack helped.

Bills hold at the 1 inch line, but fumble it back to the Vikes for a TD. Could have passed, could even take a safety.

I feel total sympathy for all the long-suffering Bills fans out there.

And the Bills tie it with the benefit of a 20 yard “completion” that actually hit the ground. On to OT.
