NFL 2022 Week Ten Commandments

Yeah. A pass interference call where the Vike just kind of waved at the Bills receiver didn’t matter because there were only 5 seconds left.

I watched the overtime in Vikings Bills, so I know who wins, but they were talking about how it was the game of the year and there was an iconic catch at some point.

I taped it; can I just watch the second half to see the greatness, or was the first half also must-see?

This was very weird, and the first time I’ve ever seen this happen in an NFL game. SF punted to the SD 1 yard line, and announcers wondered if the SF guy who downed it had wandered into the end zone.

The clock stopped at 1:58. The Chargers offense came out and ran a play, no commercial break.

IOW there was no 2 minute warning. Never seen that happen before, where all the officials had a simultaneous brain fart. Announcers didn’t notice, nor did the coaches raise any stink. The time between the plays was about a minute-IIRC a typical 2 minute warning lasts 2 minutes.

They’ve done that occasionally this season, where they skip the commercial break for a 2:00 warning. I find it off-putting and annoying in that it’s a different amount of time to fast forward through than if they went to commercial.

I’ve said before, on 4th down the defense shouldn’t play for an interception; just bat the ball into the turf.

Cowboys lost to Greenbay! Woot!

{\color{blue}\mathbf{GIANTS}} are the top seeded Wildcard team as of right now.

So over the last 8 games, I think it is a realistic hope for as many as 4 wins. They’ll lose at least one game against the sub .500 team and should win at least one against the over .500 teams. If the {\color{blue}\mathbf{GIANTS}} can really finish 11-8, that would be so far beyond any hopes and expectations from before the season.

11-8?

I agree that 4-4 over the last 8 is doable. I’d like to see a win over DAL and a split with PHI. Another thing to consider is that by week 18 PHI may have the #1 seed wrapped up and may want to rest players.

Damn. I was hoping for a GB loss. Now that the Lions have an amazing 2 game winning streak against 2 division rivals, I’m allowing myself a little bit of hope that if Amon-Ra stays healthy, if the D ever figures out how to stop drives, and the Lions can claw their way out of the NFC North basement, maybe, just maybe they can snag a wild card and get into the….

Playoffs? Don’t talk about—playoffs?! You kidding me? Playoffs?! I just hope we can win a game! Another game!

I get where you’re coming from, but at this point, I’m just rooting for the NFC North to not be awful. So yesterday was a good day - the only loss was an inter-division game.

11-6, you mean.

Wait, are you telling me 2+4=6. D’oh

Yes, 11-6 which would be pretty wonderful.

Wow, Eagles just gave the game away. Washington can kneel it out for the win.

ProTip: Don’t gang tackle a quarterback who takes a knee.

EDIT: Looks like maybe 15 seconds would be left after kneeling, so they’re doing that bullshit where they hike it for a kneel but stand there for three or four seconds before they actually kneel. I hate that.

You got your wish.

Wow, that is a shocker.

Well damn, I was at a concert tonight and missed this. HTTC!

Everyone is bitching about this on ESPN this morning and I don’t get it. Heinicke clearly gave himself up, and Graham clearly took at least 2, maybe 3 full steps before hitting him. Bang-bang play in real time, sure, but it was clearly a penalty by any interpretation of the rules. If it had happened to Jalen Hurts, nobody would be saying jack shit about it.

It didn’t even look that bang-bang to me. The announcer had time to say “and Heinike (sp?) wisely takes a knee” before the defenseman comes in.

Agreed. It sucks to end a game like that, but clearly an unnecessary tackle and clearly a penalty. Really stupid play by the defender.

If it had happened to Tom Brady, there would be a fine, a suspension, a criminal investigation, and an indictment.

Various injury and roster notes:

  • Rams WR Cooper Kupp is being placed on injured reserve, due to an ankle injury which is requiring surgery. He’s not being ruled out from returning to the roster later in the year.
  • Eagles TE Dallas Goedert is expected to miss “extended time” due to a shoulder injury suffered in last night’s game.
  • Commanders DE Chase Young is expected to be activated this week, almost exactly a year to the day after suffering ACL and MCL tears in his right knee.
  • Packers WR/PR Amari Rodgers has been released. Rodgers had fumbled four punts in 20 returns so far this year; the third-round draft choice from last year had never really been able to break into the rotation at wide receiver, either.
